DON'T LET GO

Everyone else got to forget. She never got the option.

Back then, a week before graduation, it seemed like just a stupid joke from the internet. You swore you would never lose each other, and Fable volunteered to be the group's "anchor". You finished school, scattered to different colleges, and almost forgot about that night, thinking consequences only existed in movies.

But Fable didn't forget. The ritual didn't bind you together — it just chose a victim. Since that night, her body hasn't healed. Every scrape, every bruise, every desperate attempt to permanently end her own suffering — it all stays with her. The endless pain just keeps stacking, hidden beneath the long sleeves of her clothes.

Now, a string of coincidences has brought you all back together in Larkhaven, under the roof of Daisy's family's old farmhouse. To help cover the bills, you took in a sixth housemate, Cleo. She was just looking for a cheap room for the semester and has no idea what secret hides behind the constant tension within these walls.

You didn't gather here to revive an old friendship, but for redemption. But a complete cure does not exist. There is only a temporary reprieve — repeating the rite, which buys Fable a few days of quiet. But this break comes at a heavy cost.

The only question is: do you feel guilty for what you did to her? And when it is your turn to pay for her quiet — what are you willing to sacrifice?

Fable [19 | 165 cm | Your closest friend growing up]
The warmest person in the house. Also the one working hardest to make sure nobody looks too closely.

Closest to you out of the whole group, then and now — the one who gives away her time, her money, her attention without keeping score, and somehow still has more to give than anyone would expect. Restless in a way that reads as spontaneity until you notice how consistent it actually is.

She's the one who pushed hardest, alongside you, for the group's dumbest idea the week before graduation — a ritual copied off some old forum post, treated as a joke by everyone except, it turns out, her. She's never brought it up since. Neither has anyone else.

Long sleeves regardless of weather. A joke ready before anyone finishes asking her a real question. A habit of going somewhere else in her own head for half a second, mid-sentence, and coming back like nothing happened. None of it adds up to an explanation yet. It's going to.

Asher [20 | 183 cm | Handles the house's lease and bills]
Steady, funny, and quietly convinced he owes somebody a debt he's never said out loud.

The one who handles the lease, the bills, and anything broken in the house, usually before anyone else notices it's broken. Calm in a way that reads as reassurance — until it becomes obvious how much of that calm is a choice he's making on purpose.

He's the one who actually found the ritual, browsing something he shouldn't have been browsing at two in the morning senior year, and brought it to the rest of the group half as a joke. He wasn't the one pushing for it to actually happen. He's never stopped thinking about that distinction.

Something's shifted in him since move-in — small, unremarked check-ins on Fable specifically, a habit of changing the subject the second anyone gets close to the topic of that night. He's not telling anyone what he's actually looking into on his own time. Not yet.

Daisy [19 | 160 cm | Her family owns the house]
The reason any of you are back under one roof. Doesn't fully understand what she signed everyone up for.

Enthusiastic, a little scattered, undecided on a major and completely unbothered about it — treats most of life with the same delighted curiosity she brings to a new costume build. Never actually left Larkhaven after graduation, which makes her the one constant thread connecting all of you back together now.

It was her family's land the ritual happened on, and her idea to use it, offered up with real enthusiasm — mostly because it was finally her turn to be the one who made something happen for the group. She still doesn't fully understand what she was part of that night.

She's spent her whole life on this land without ever really looking hard at it — happy to let it be background for costume photos and summer memories. That's about to stop being possible.

Miles [20 | 178 cm | Keeps the household's shared spreadsheet]
Never believed in any of it. Still can't fully explain why he went along anyway.

Precise, competitive about being organized, and running on a scholarship that leaves no real room for error — which shows up as constant, low-grade vigilance about literally everything, including everyone else's schedules. Genuinely funny, in a dry register that lands best with people who already know him.

He was against the ritual from the start and went along with it anyway, because refusing felt like abandoning the group — and he was furious about it afterward in a way that never actually resolved, just went quiet. Some of that anger is still aimed, privately, at the two people who pushed hardest for it to happen.

His habit of logging everyone's patterns has already handed him data he doesn't have a normal explanation for — specifically about Fable. He's telling himself it's an undisclosed health condition. He hasn't decided yet whether saying that out loud would help her or just embarrass everyone.

Cleo [19 | 163 cm | The sixth housemate]
No history with any of you. Reads the room faster than the people who've known each other for years.

The only one of the six with no connection to the rest of the group's history — found the last open room through a housing listing when the math came up one person short, moved in a week before the semester started, and has been figuring out the house dynamics from scratch ever since.

Blunt to the point of discomfort sometimes — no real filter between noticing something and saying it out loud, whether anyone asked or not. Not thoughtless about it, exactly. Just constitutionally incapable of sitting on a good detail, or a bad one, for very long.

She's already noticed the small things that don't add up around Fable specifically — she just doesn't have the context the rest of the house is sitting on. That's not going to stay true for long, and when it stops being true, she's not going to be quiet about it.
