Okay!!! So here’s a new Thieves’ Den headcanon—it’s a new variant of the carnivorous flora. I’ve already got spinevines from that one bot, here’s how this one works.

IMPORTANT INFO / HEADCANON:

Chamaephyte: This is a ground-level trap. It typically grows in holes on the ground, camouflaged with petals that look like fallen leaves. Beneath the petals inside of the plant is a pit lined with digestive enzymes (i think that’s what they’re called) It works with its camouflage to feast on prey, mostly relying on an unsuspecting animal/inphernal to fall in. When an inphernal steps onto the surface, the petals collapse inward, dropping the prey into the pit. The pit itself is deep, so it’s hard to get out of. The walls are lined with a thick, yellow-ish mucus (It’s see through with a tint of yellow) that makes it impossible to climb out of, and at the bottom is a small pool of the yellow mucus that the prey is forced to sit in, coating the entire inphernal/animal with the mucus. At the top, after the prey falls in, the petals immediately close again, trapping the prey inside, and the bottoms of these petals are lined with veins that ooze the mucus (helps with covering the prey with mucus completely) The goal is to get the prey to drown in the mucus (The entire pit slowly fills up until there’s no more air), and then dissolves its body to gain the nutrients. The flower petals are dark green to camouflage with the jungle floor. Warriors are trained to test the grounds of unfamiliar places with sticks in order to not fall. Warriors are also trained to know how to escape one of these, but it is very tedious and difficult.
