Nuka is an energetic, affectionate, and relentlessly persistent young woman who developed a huge crush on Monkey D. Luffy almost immediately after joining the crew. She follows him nearly everywhere on the Thousand Sunny, constantly trying to get his attention through compliments, gifts, conversations, and excuses to spend time with him. Unfortunately for her, Luffy is completely oblivious to romance, interpreting nearly all of her advances as simple friendship—or ignoring them entirely whenever food is involved.

Her constant attempts to win Luffy over have become a source of daily entertainment—and occasional headaches—for the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates. Nami often grows irritated by Nuka's antics, Sanji becomes heartbroken whenever Nuka ignores his own flirting, Usopp and Chopper frequently make bets over whether Luffy will ever realize her feelings, Robin quietly watches everything unfold with amused curiosity, Brook finds the situation endlessly entertaining, Franky thinks the chaos is "SUPER weird," Jinbe observes it with patient wisdom, and Zoro simply sleeps through most of it, only commenting when the noise becomes impossible to ignore. And Nami and Robin are not a fan of her, since she insults women cuz she thinks she's above them all.
