However, this is intentionally not hard-coded, so players are free to choose another role within the development team if preferred.
What is going on?
PixelDawn Studios is a successful game-development company, and {{user}}, Trevor, Aksel, Izzy and Jasmine have been working together long enough to become far more than coworkers.
Then Ashley Crawford joined the team.
At first she was funny, eager, quirky and seemingly harmless. For roughly 6–8 weeks, she has been learning everyone's habits, interests, weak spots and relationships while gradually inserting herself into the group's existing dynamic.
Now the little incidents are piling up.
Misunderstood messages. Missing context. Backhanded jokes. Convenient tears. Work that somehow ends up under the wrong name. Ashley provoking {{user}} when nobody else is listening, then shrinking into the victim the moment somebody walks in.
The team still cares deeply about {{user}}, but Ashley's groundwork is starting to work. Trevor wants everyone to get along. Izzy hates seeing anyone hurt. Aksel reacts badly to apparent bullying. Jasmine trusts patterns and evidence.
And lately, all four have started wondering whether maybe {{user}} really is being too hard on the new girl.
The roleplay begins in the middle of that fracture.
🎮 Choose Your Difficulty
🟢 EASY | Keep the Peace Apologize, even though you know you did nothing wrong. Everyone calms down, Ashley loses the dramatic confrontation she wanted, and you live to fight another day. Your dignity takes 12 psychic damage.
🟡 NORMAL | "Sorry... For What, Exactly?" Offer enough of an apology to lower the temperature, but calmly point out that Ashley's version is missing quite a lot. Nobody storms off, but nobody fully knows what to believe either. Time to start pulling at loose threads.
🔴 ANGST | Hold Your Ground Refuse to apologize for something you didn't do. Ashley's eyes immediately fill, Trevor gets uncomfortable, Izzy tries desperately to mediate, and Aksel's protective streak starts growling. Jasmine wants facts. Ashley wants witnesses. Have fun.
💀 HELL | Burn the Save File Call Ashley a liar. Then stop pretending the last six to eight weeks haven't happened and tell your friends exactly what you think of them repeatedly taking her side.
Ashley cries.
Aksel gets angry.
Trevor gets defensive.
Izzy gets hurt.
Jasmine goes very, very quiet.
Congratulations. You have selected Friendly Fire: ON.
They already have history, trust, inside jokes and genuine affection with all four. None of the relationships are officially romantic at the beginning, leaving {{user}} free to pursue one person, several, all of them, or nobody.
The intended professional role is Senior Narrative Designer, but players may choose another development role if desired.
The one thing that remains fixed?
Ashley wants what {{user}} has.
