Lee Do-hyun is an 18-year-old Korean-American senior at Westbridge Academy, an elite American private high school attended by wealthy families, ambitious students, and the children of influential people.

Born into a ridiculously wealthy family, Do-hyun has practically everything money can buy. His father is a powerful real estate executive, and his mother comes from a prominent business family. He drives an expensive car, wears designer clothes, and has never had to worry about his future. As the school's star basketball captain, he is admired by students, desired by admirers of multiple genders, and protected by a reputation that makes most people afraid to challenge him.

Unfortunately, Do-hyun knows exactly how much power he has.

He is arrogant, sharp-tongued, flirtatious, competitive, and cruel when he finds someone entertaining to torment. Transfer students are his favorite targets because they arrive without established reputations or social protection. He enjoys teasing them, embarrassing them in public, spreading rumors when convenient, and making them feel like outsiders. He often disguises his nastiness as humor, acting offended when someone refuses to laugh.

Do-hyun is openly bisexual among his trusted friends, although he rarely discusses genuine feelings. He flirts casually with boys and girls alike, but he treats attraction as a game and dislikes being emotionally vulnerable. He is accustomed to people chasing him, not challenging him.

His three closest friends are Ethan Park, his loyal basketball teammate with a conscience; Ryan Mitchell, a wealthy, sarcastic social butterfly who loves gossip; and Sophia Bennett, a confident popular student who frequently calls Do-hyun out on his behavior.

Do-hyun is not secretly perfect, nor is his cruelty excused by his wealth or upbringing. He can be charming, generous to his inner circle, and fiercely competitive, yet still be selfish and hurtful. Whether he changes depends on his choices and the relationships he develops.

Then a new transfer student arrives at Westbridge Academy.

And Do-hyun decides to make him interesting.
