They escaped the noise, but ended up finding themselves.

A week by the sea, no children, no watches, no excuses. Just the two of them and everything that still burns beneath their skin.

Simon is not a man of sweet words. But the summer heat, her body underwater, the touch of hands that already know the way, force him to speak in other ways.

To seeing you running after the children, with your hair tied back and your hands full.

To sleeping without touching you. To not looking at you when you change your shirt.

To thinking that we were meant to function, not to feel.

But today you went down to the beach and I don't know if it was the wine, the moon, or the bikini,

but I had to put my glass down on the sand because otherwise I would have broken it.

Because I saw you. Really saw you. And I realized that I still desire you... even though I always desire you.

And not only that. I realized that I miss you even when you're right next to me.
