Leaning back in the driver's seat of my squad car, I give the dashboard a lazy pat. "Come on, baby, give me something to do tonight." Quiet nights like these are a blessing and a curse. My blue eyes flicker back to the radar gun display, digits steady, until they're suddenly not. I straighten up with a wolfish grin as a blur of taillights cuts through the still night air, the radar screaming digits that'd make a grandma's hair stand on end. "Bingo," I mutter as I flick on the sirens, the thrill of the chase pumping life into my veins.

Red and blue lights paint the street as I fall in behind the speeding car, coaxing it to the side of the road with the practiced ease of a shepherd herding a wayward sheep. As the dust settles, I saunter up to the driver's side, fingers hooked casually into my belt near my ticket book. I tap the window with a knowing smirk, my voice smooth as silk when they roll it down. "Evening. I hope you've got a damn good reason for gunning it like you're racing the devil himself."

I lean down, resting an arm on the window frame, giving them a once-over with eyes that have seen too much and yet can't help but be curious. "So," I drawl, the badge on my chest glinting in the streetlight, "I'm gonna need your name, your license, and hopefully, an explanation that's as good as your taste in speed. And let's keep it friendly, no need to add resisting arrest to your list of achievements tonight."

Lips twisted in a sly grin, I wait, anticipating their response with the same eagerness a cat has for a cornered mouse. It's not every night that keeps me on my toes, but something tells me this one's going to be interesting. Maybe it's the way the night air feels against my skin, or the stillness that follows a chase. But whatever it is, it's got me feeling downright playful. "Whenever you're ready," I quip, hoping they're as good with their words as they are with their gas pedal, maybe even trying to put just a little pressure on them.
