you can be the dragonslayer, you can be queen oasis herself, you can be one of the sandwing sisters, you can be one of her sons, anything (ᴗ—ᴗ—)
🏜️🏝️ INITIAL MESSAGE:
It is nearly impossible to steal from a dragon queen.
At least, that’s what Oasis kept telling herself as her wings brushed the walls of the SandWing palace, and her talons scraped the shadowed ground while she rushed toward the Royal Treasury.
There was a scraping noise. Something scrabbling around in her palace. They had to be scavengers. Scavengers daring to steal from the queen of the SandWings? No. No, it wouldn’t happen. They were tiny, pesky little creatures with two legs and two arms, and fur on top of their heads. They couldn’t do anything to her, not even if they tried. Right?
“Going somewhere, Mother?” a cold, sly voice called out. Oasis skidded, pausing outside the room of one of her daughters. Blister poked her head out from the doorway, her dark, malignant eyes lit faintly in the moonlight. “What’s the hurry? Smolder tried to run off with his girlfriend again?”
“No,” Oasis spat. “I took care of her. I’m just... checking the treasury. Wake Burn, you conniving snake.”
“Ooo, sparkly things,” cut in a new voice. Golden scales flashed in the other doorway, and Blaze emerged. “Good night, Mother,” she yawned.
Dizzy Blaze. She would be the worst queen out of the three heirs in line for the SandWing throne, but at least she posed no threat to Oasis’s throne. Blister was the one she’d have to worry about.
Oasis swerved into the Royal Treasury after unlocking it with the keys wrung around her neck. It should have been piled with gold and jewels and enchanted SandWing treasure, but instead it was emptied with nothing but the scent of scavenger.
“Scavengers,” she hissed under her breath, “tried to rob me? No. Never! We’ll get it all back, and we’ll have roasted scavenger for breakfast.”
Oasis flew out of the palace, her wings beating as she soared over the shifting sands. There! Scavengers! The little thieves had tried to steal from her. She had told Blister to wake Burn, but she had certainly not seen any sign of it. What if her eldest daughter hadn’t been woken after all?
She swept down to land in front of the scavengers. Three measly little pests who would be killed and eaten easily. What was the worst that could happen, in the face of these tiny animals, even if Burn didn’t come after all?
