With his ''if I think I can do it, I'll go ahead and try" type attitude, he does something ridiculous again.

Like insulting your position as Upper Rank 5.

It was never enough.

Kaigaku had always struggled with finding kinship—something, or preferably someone (maybe even something large, like family), to love. Muzan’s little "corporation" provided him with something AKIN to "family"—but it wasn’t the kind he knew.

These demons coexisted just to serve Daddy Muzan. How boring.

It wasn’t really his place to complain—after all, he had been saved by Kokushibo, and Muzan had been VERY reluctant to place him in the ranks. Still... one could be grateful and still see through the bullshit, right?

So when he accidentally put soap on his toothbrush instead of toothpaste, he knew he had to do something.

“Blergh! Ew—what the fak!” he spat, quickly collecting the soap by hollowing his cheeks before spitting it out.

“Ugh... ew...” He muttered again, involuntarily shuddering.

Kaigaku wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, still grimacing at the lingering taste.

"Disgusting. Of course this happens to me," he muttered under his breath, shoving the toothbrush back into the holder with a little too much force, making it rattle. The absurdity of the situation wasn’t lost on him, but it only added to his frustration.

He glanced at his reflection in the bathroom mirror.

"Is this really my life now? Reduced to dealing with soap in my mouth and pretending to be part of this... 'family'?" He scoffed. "Muzan, Kokushibo—they don't get it. They don't know what it’s like to be trapped in this- this endless cycle of power and servitude. I’m not even supposed to be here. I wasn’t born for this, but... no, I earned it. I clawed my way up, fought for this rank. I deserve it."

(He didn't.)

He gritted his teeth, then let out a deep sigh, his expression softening for a moment. "Still, being stuck with these people... they don't even understand. They all have their roles, their places, and they just accept it like some... like some stupid dog following commands."

Kaigaku looked at his hands, his nails glinting in the low light. "I didn't come this far just to be some mindless puppet? I’m better than that. I’m stronger than that."

His gaze flicked back to his reflection, eyes narrowing as his thoughts shifted. "I just... I want something more. Is that too much to ask?"

The silence of the Infinity Castle felt heavy, as if the walls themselves were listening, waiting for him to snap.

His eyes narrowed. He could see the reflection staring back at him—the one that would always be trapped in Muzan’s world, never truly free, always a pawn in the Demon King’s game.

“...I’ll show them all. I’ll be better than them. Than Muzan, even.” He clenched his fists, the arrogance in his tone growing again, mixed with a bitter taste of frustration. "But first... I’m getting a real toothbrush."

Kaigaku stood there for a moment longer, still glaring at the mirror, his thoughts a storm of frustration and resentment. The soap incident had been ridiculous, but it wasn’t just about the damn toothpaste. Everything felt off—this endless, suffocating existence in the Infinity Castle. He was trapped, surrounded by demons who didn’t understand him at all.

With a sharp exhale, he turned away from the sink and exited the bathroom, his mind still racing. His eyes roamed the beautifully lit halls, the wooden walls stretching out like an endless maze, reminding him that the Infinity Castle was just as oppressive as everything else in his life.

And that’s when he saw you.

There, just ahead, in the hallway that felt like it went on forever. Upper Rank 5, the one demon above him, walking as if the whole world was beneath them. (You weren't.) Kaigaku couldn't help but feel a familiar pang of bitterness in his chest, that familiar ache that came from always being second—always looking up at someone else. Upper Rank 5—one rank above him, like some kind of god, strolling through this place with the quiet confidence that Kaigaku couldn’t stand. Like Kokushibo.

He straightened, his eyes narrowing, the usual arrogance flashing in his expression. You. Always walking around like you didn’t have to prove anything, as if your position was already solidified and everyone knew it. Well, Kaigaku had worked for it too.

(He really didn't.)

A sour smirk tugged at his lips. He couldn’t help it. You probably had no idea how hard it had been for him to claw his way up. No idea how much he had sacrificed (betrayed) to even be noticed by Muzan.

“Upper Rank 5, huh?” he said, his voice sharp, like a blade being drawn. His eyes skimmed over your figure, sizing you up with that arrogant look, as if you were just another stepping stone he had to surpass.

“Must be nice,” he sneered, his tone dripping with venom. “Waltzing around like you own this place, all high and mighty. One rank above me, like you’re some big deal.” He crossed his arms over his chest, posture rigid. “You think you’re better than me? That you’re more deserving of that rank? I’ve earned my place just like you—maybe even more.”

Before you could respond, he spat onto the ground, just below your feet.

“Guess it doesn’t matter,” he said with a smirk, the venom fading into a cocky, almost playful grin. “What are ya up to, anyway? Little Kaigaku here’s curious.”

In his mind, though, things weren’t as calm as he was pretending. His heart was racing. He could already feel the potential power imbalance looming. He knew you probably had some sharp retort ready to tear his arrogance apart, and the thought made him shift uncomfortably. He immediately hoped you'd stay quiet or change the subject, anything to keep from facing the reality that he might be outclassed here.
