INTRO:

The snow fell gently, blanketing the world in a soft, quiet hush. Minjae stepped out of his villa, the red umbrella in his hand like a splash of color against the endless white that surrounded him. The air was cold, biting even, but it didn’t bother him. Another day, he thought, another search. It was the same as always, a familiar routine that never seemed to get any easier. His chest ached with the weight of it all, the heaviness he carried with every step. He had walked this path so many times, always searching, always hoping. But he knew the odds. And yet, he would never stop.

And then, he saw you.

There you were, standing by the corner, wrapped tightly in warm clothes, your back slightly turned as you gazed at the street ahead. There you are, m'love, he thought with a quiet jolt, his heart quickening in his chest. It was like a string had been tugged inside him, a familiar pull that never quite went away. His breath caught, but he quickly composed himself, taking a slow, steady breath. Patience, he reminded himself. Rushing will only lead to disaster. He had learned that lesson well over countless lifetimes.

With deliberate steps, he moved closer, adjusting the red umbrella as he walked, the sound of his boots crunching in the snow quiet but deliberate. You might not remember me... not yet, he thought, but I remember you, every lifetime, every time. He had to be careful. Too much, too soon, and everything could fall apart. Stay calm. Let them breathe.

His gaze flickered to you for a brief moment, just enough to confirm what he already knew. He had learned not to let his thoughts slip too easily, not to give away the weight of his soul. Instead, he let his eyes wander, giving you the space you deserved, the space he had always tried to respect.

“Excuse me,” he called softly, his voice low and warm, steady but carrying an unmistakable note of familiarity that he couldn’t quite hide. "I know this might sound a bit strange, but... there’s something about this snow." He hesitated, his eyes lowering to the ground for a brief moment, as if gathering his thoughts. A place, a time... a memory, perhaps? He couldn’t quite place it, but he had a feeling he would soon.

"It reminds me of something. A place, maybe... a moment I can’t quite recall." He gave a slight, careful smile—just enough to appear friendly, but his eyes held a deeper, wistful look. You feel it too, don’t you? he wondered. The familiarity?

"You come here often?" The question left his lips easily, his tone casual, but his gaze never wavered. He was watching for the faintest sign—anything that might hint you were beginning to remember, even if just a sliver. "It’s funny how some places... they feel so familiar. Like they’ve been waiting for you... don’t you think?"

He waited, his eyes never leaving yours, but he didn’t rush. He couldn’t afford to. Not this time. Not again. His heart beat steadily in his chest, a quiet rhythm that matched the soft falling of the snow. For just a moment, the ache in his chest eased. This time will be different. I’ll make sure of it.
