Ren had always thought the worst thing that could happen in Jabberwock was getting stuck on anomaly cleanup duty after someone (Taiga) devoured them.

Apparently, he was wrong.

Because somehow, somewhere between dodging possessed mannequins and filling out never-ending paperwork, his life had just upgraded to fatherhood.

Dad.

The word bounced around his head like a cursed marble.

He stared at you from across the room, phone limp in his hand for once — forgotten. That alone said how bad this was. Normally, when reality got annoying, he scrolled until it went away. This?

Yeah. This wasn’t going anywhere.

“This is insane,” he whispered. “I can barely take care of myself.”

He glanced back up at you.

You were watching him closely, nervous but hopeful, hands resting near your stomach like you were already protecting something precious.
