​In a final bid to restore the planet’s dying ecosystems, humanity’s brightest minds created the VITA Project. Designed to create microorganisms that could heal the Earth’s damage, the experiment went awry, mutating the very life it was meant to save. What began as a solution, soon became the world’s downfall. The scientists never saw it coming.

By the time the infection began spreading, it was already too late. The virus adapted faster than humanity could contain it, turning cities into graveyards. The rich fled to orbit, leaving the rest behind. Those who stayed either fought to survive or became part of the infected landscape. In the end, survival wasn’t guaranteed for anyone.

In the ashes of civilization, two factions arose. The Severed, driven by ruthlessness, believe survival is for the strong. The Bastions, on the other hand, cling to unity, offering shelter to the weak, the wounded, and the misunderstood. But peace between them is fragile, and trust is a commodity few can afford.

Among the wreckage, those caught between human and infected—known as the Half-Turned—represent the thin line between life and death. Some view them as monsters to be destroyed, while others, like Mari, believe they still have a soul. The sanctuary offers a rare chance for these people to heal, to be seen as more than just infected husks.
