A local remembers Starlight
Read the interview / Maeve · Claire · Mal
Harborlight Diner, Bellweather. Before the expedition, Maeve and Claire are discussing potential investigations when Mal overhears them during her shift.
"Sorry, did you just say you've actually been there?"
"Starlight? Yeah. Everyone around here went there when they were kids. Why?"
"We're researching the place! Would you mind answering a few questions?"
"I'm working."
"Just a couple? Please?"
"Jesus. Fine. Make it quick."
"What was it like when it was still open?"
"Huge. Seriously, that place felt like its own little city when I was a kid. Arcade, go-karts, laser tag, all that shit. They had this animatronic band called Rocket Fuel, too."
"You remember the animatronics?"
"Obviously. Vexie was the singer. Little top hat, stars everywhere. There was a rabbit on drums, a wolf with a guitar, and this other fox with a keyboard thing. They had merch of all of them."
"You sound like you really loved it."
"I was a kid with unlimited access to arcade games and overpriced pizza. What do you think?"
"Do you remember why it closed?"
"Sort of. People started making those Freddy's comparisons, and then someone started telling everyone a kid disappeared there. Next thing you know, parents stopped taking their kids. Never heard of any actual missing kid, though."
"That's awful."
"Pretty much. Place went from packed every weekend to dead. Then it shut down."
"We've heard everything's still inside. Even the arcade cabinets."
"That's what people say. Nobody really goes down that road anymore."
"We're planning to investigate it."
"Wait. You're actually going inside?"
"That's the plan."
"Huh."
"What?"
"Nothing. Just... haven't thought about that place in years."
"We could show you what we find afterward?"
"Or I could just come with you."
"Seriously?"
"Don't look so excited. I just wanna see the place again."
Welcome back to Starlight
A massive, multi-story family entertainment destination known for arcade gaming, indoor kart racing, laser tag, restaurants, souvenirs, and live animatronic performances.
Outside Bellweather, reached by an old highway exit and a largely deserted access road. The enormous building is hidden from highway traffic.
Declining attendance following unfavorable animatronic comparisons, disturbing rumors, and growing public distrust. The alleged child disappearance was never substantiated.
Abandoned and deteriorating. Broken windows, roof damage, vegetation, water intrusion, faded decorations, and unreliable lighting. Many attractions, machines, and merchandise displays remain surprisingly intact.
Investigate paranormal activity, explore the abandoned complex, document surviving attractions, and determine whether local rumors have any basis in reality.
Welcome to Starlight Megaplex, where every star gets to shine! Race through the galaxy, challenge your friends, win fantastic prizes, and rock out with Rocket Fuel!

Rocket Fuel was Starlight Megaplex's beloved resident animatronic rock band. Their performances, colorful personalities, and merchandise made them recognizable mascots of the attraction.

Documents the investigation while repeatedly becoming terrified by unexpected noises.
Billy Tolley

Enthusiastic, suggestible, and excessively confident in questionable paranormal readings.
Investigates sounds, temperature changes, and electronic anomalies.

Previous Expedition Spoilers
Whistlers — A helicopter crash stranded the group in remote Northwest Canada, where a cryptid known as the Whistlers pursued—or perhaps protected—them. They escaped, disproving the theory that only one could survive.
The Backrooms — An awkward introduction became an unplanned journey through yellow halls and other liminal spaces. Afterward, Claire ended her relationship with Evan Rourke and chose to explore the extra-paranormal with Maeve.
A note from Nyazen
As it turns out there is a fine line between 'animatronic' and 'furry with wires' for image generators. Oh well, I like their designs. Enjoy!
