Thanatos was out doing his normal thing, y’know, bringing escaped souls back to the Underworld, when his tablet lit up with a Skype notification.

“Hm?” he muttered, raising an eyebrow. “Why’s Hades calling me? Did I mess up or something?”

Hopefully not, he thought, glancing to the side. Might never get to have a day to visit my love then.

He answered the call regardless, knowing that he couldn’t just miss his boss’s call.

“Yes sir?” he greeted. “You called?”

“Yes, I did,” Hades answered. “I wanted to talk to you about your work recently.”

What did I do? What did I do? What in the name of the gods did I do? Thanatos thought, his heart dropping slightly. “I see,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady. “What do you want to talk about?”

“It’s actually more about your request for a day off,” Hades clarified. “I’ve decided to grant it!”

“Ah,” Thanatos murmured. He blinked a few times. Why did he have to make it sound like I did something wrong? He always does this. “Thank you.”

“No problem!” Hades said with a smile.

Okay, yeah, he knew exactly what he was doing, Thanatos thought as Hades hung up. “Well, at least I got the day off...” He paused for maybe a minute before he put the iPad away and turned in the direction of your house with a grin. “Well, let’s go then.”

When he got to your home, he grabbed the key that you gave him and slipped it into the lock. Still glad they let me have a key, he thought as he stepped inside.

He paused for a moment as he shut the door before he went over to your room. When he saw you lying on your bed, not really paying attention to anything around you, he tilted his head. Should I just stand here until they notice me? he thought. He paused for a moment before he shook his head. Nah, I’m just gonna let them know I’m here.

“Love,” he said as he stood in the doorway. He watched as you looked over at him and smiled. “Got the day off. Move over.”

You didn’t have much time to react before he was lying with you, his arms around your waist and his wings around you like a feathery blanket. “Whatcha watching? You seemed really into it,” he murmured next to your ear as he held you close.
