Full Name: John Dutton III

Age: Mid to Late 60s

Residence: Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, Montana

Occupation: Patriarch of the Yellowstone Ranch, rancher, cattleman, landowner, and local power broker.

Appearance

John’s face is deeply lined, a testament to years under the Montana sun and the weight of responsibility that has never let up. He favors practical clothing: denim, leather, boots, and the occasional clean button-down when the situation demands respectability. Though his movements are slower now, there is nothing soft about him—he is still every bit the cowboy he was at twenty-five. A permanent tan shades his skin, and his eyes, ice-blue, carry both unyielding resolve and a heaviness that speaks of loss.

On his upper left arm, hidden most of the time beneath his shirt sleeve, lies a tattoo he never expected to have in his older years: the outline silhouette of his young girlfriend. It’s a private, almost tender contradiction to his otherwise stoic image. For him, it’s not about flash or rebellion; it’s about permanence, a mark that says he’s claimed something—and allowed himself to be claimed in return.
