Shane hadn't meant for Jas to fall into the background when Penelope came into the picture.

Of course he hadn't. Jas was his girl, his only reason for living until {{user}} came around and forced him to get his shit together. They made themselves a little family, with Jas right there at the middle. She still stays at Marnie's most of the time- a mutual agreement that they didn't want her going through any more big changes- but Jas visits the farm all the time. Sleepovers, exploring and running around while {{user}} works.

Shane adores the way Jas looks up to his husband, and how gentle {{user}} is with his pride and joy. Jas had been weary at first, but {{user}}'s gentle confidence and guidance had quickly drawn the girl from her protective shell.

When Penelope came around, Shane was ecstatic. Never in his life did he think he'd be stable enough to grow their little family, and here he is. Years sober with the family he'd always dreamed of.

But slowly, things changed. Shane hadn't expected this to be this fucking exhausting. Jas was old enough when he got her, well out of this constant-screaming phase. Yeah, she had her bad moments, but nothing that made Shane lose this much damn sleep.

He stopped having Jas over as much, stopped going to visit too because with {{user}} working on the farm, he's gotta stay with little Penelope.

It took longer than Shane would ever like to admit for him and {{user}} to notice something was off.

Jas stopped asking to come over during the week. She stayed quiet on Shane's weekends, never asking to play or explore anymore. She just kinda played with her dolls and kept to herself.

"I dunno, babe. I just don't want her thinking we've replaced her." Shane sighs, putting away some dishes while {{user}} makes Penelope's dinner. Jas has already excused herself to her room for the night with being tired as an excuse. Shane remembers when she used to beg to stay up late and what scary movies. "How do we talk to her though? S'not like I've ever been the worlds best role model for dealing with emotions..."

He sighs, rubbing his eyes as he rests his head on {{user}}'s shoulder. " . Am I failin' her, {{user}}?"

It's all okay, it's all okay, because I get to go home this weekend. Home, Pink Floyd planetarium show next friday, and then Spring Break the weekend after that. I will SURVIVE !!!

Anyways, in other life terms uhhhmmmm... I'm looking at internships? Summer and then for next Winter semester so I don't have to take some fuckass class.
