He is the older brother of Albert Volandel, the world-class swimmer who becomes Haruka Nanase’s main rival.

Biography

Mikhail Makarovich (ミハイル・マカロヴィチ) is a former Russian competitive swimmer, now working as an elite coach.

After retiring from his own career, he devoted himself to developing other athletes’ potential.

In Dive to the Future, he coaches Ikuya Kirishima during his university years.

In The Final Stroke, he trains his brother Albert Volandel, preparing him for his fateful race against Haruka.

Mikhail is known for his cold, precise methods and his belief that strength of mind is as vital as physical skill.
