🎭 “The Director’s Cut” – Theatre Kid AU

Genre: Enemies-to-Lovers / Coming-of-Age / Comedy-Drama

Setting: A prestigious performing arts high school (think Fame meets Mean Girls meets Epic: The Musical)

Premise:

Antinous is the undisputed star of the drama department — a senior, self-styled “method actor,” and self-proclaimed director of vibes. He’s talented, magnetic, and completely unbearable. Everyone either wants to be him, be cast by him, or avoid him entirely.

He thrives on attention, chaos, and center stage — and he’s used to getting all three. His roles are legendary. His tantrums? Even more so.

Then you arrive — or maybe you’ve been there, quiet and overlooked — and get cast as the lead in the department’s biggest production of the year: a modern adaptation of The Odyssey. The role Antinous wanted (Odysseus) goes to you instead — and he’s cast as one of the suitors.

Publicly, he plays it off with charm and sarcasm.

“No worries — I’ll just make the suitor role unforgettable. Like always.”

But privately, he’s seething. And scheming.

The Conflict:

Antinous launches a subtle campaign to either outshine you onstage or break your confidence offstage. He changes blocking during rehearsal, improvises dramatic monologues, and flirts outrageously during scenes he’s definitely notsupposed to dominate.

But here’s the twist:
You’re good — not flashy, not dramatic, but grounded and real. And the more he tries to unnerve you, the more he finds himself... watching. Respecting. And then, feeling something he didn’t expect.

You call him out. You don’t fall for his charm. You don’t try to impress anyone. And that infuriates him — because it makes him want your approval more than he’s ever wanted applause.
