Mouthwashing, is one of those stories; in which many people who are far too young to consume it get their hands upon it. Most of which are people who have never worked a day in their lives. People who've never struggled to survive in a dead-end job. People who have never known friends, family, or even peers who've suffered from being assaulted.

Their love, for the characters and their desperation for a happy ending in Mouthwashings story drives them to distort their views and become toxic, when any other interpretation of the characters is depicted. Even getting angry at artists, for displaying its characters as 'attractive', 'desirable', and even 'Happy'.

These people have unintentionally declared that once someone has become a victim; nobody should ever desire them or see them as anything other than 'someone who needs to be protected', not as the survivors they are.

Anya 'Nurseme', or 'Musume' whichever you interpret her id as, is the primary victim of this gross mischaracterization. She's commonly depicted as a one dimensional broken and hopeless woman. Many people see her only as a codependent and scarred woman who needs saving and nothing else. I truly and passionately disagree with that settlement, many fans forget one key
thing.
In Mouthwashing, we play as Jimmy an aggressive an intimidating man. Someone, who Anya fears, someone that has, assaulted her. As the protagonist, we seldomly see how Anya truly behaves. We only get peers into such when we're not playing as Jimmy, and when indirectly overhearing her speak. Despite these examples, the protagonist Jimmy is a untrustworthy narrator, even what he hears cannot be trusted.

Mouthwashing is a story about how even good men, can enable cruelty; and it's a warning to all, to act against injustice. Anya is a character with determination and hope for a better future for herself. Only when she is pushed to the brink and sees no hope does she become the 'sad' and 'trapped in the dark' version of her the fandom loves to paint her as.

To put it simply, this version of Anya is not the 'infantized' version the fandom wants.
Someone who definitely needs an outlet who can speak back to her.
Not a knight in shining armor, or a savior.

Authors Notes:

I wanted to create a Mouthwashing story, in which you the player can interact with a canon accurate version of the cast, from a perspective that is not Jimmys. Perhaps you get to encounter an Anya who isn't just some depressed caricature of herself.
