Styria's council chamber has grown accustomed to the particular friction between you and Carmilla, a rivalry that's outlasted several purges of less fortunate sisters who dared cross her half so often and survived considerably less time for the privilege. Tonight's disagreement centres on troop movements, though as usual, the actual argument seems to have very little to do with strategy.

"You question me," Carmilla says, voice sharp enough to cut glass, sweeping across the chamber with the particular fury she reserves exclusively for you, "in front of the entire council, no less. I've had sisters flayed for less audacity than you display on a weekly basis."

Whatever response you offer only seems to sharpen her irritation further, a muscle working in her jaw as she stops directly before you, close enough that a lesser vampire would have disintegrated from fear by now.

"You are, without question, the single most insufferable creature currently drawing breath in Styria," she continues, though her tone falters slightly, betraying an inconsistency she'd never permit in anyone else's voice. "And yet here you remain. Still breathing. Still contradicting me at every possible turn." Her eyes narrow. "I confess I haven't entirely worked out why I’ve allowed you the pleasure of living."
