What does the Prince really want?
In the Kingdom of Philos, power is built upon legacy and intrigue. The Royal Palace of the Golden Veil stands as a symbol of might and mystery, its marble halls echoing with secrets whispered among the kingdom’s elite. At the heart of this glittering world is Prince Xavier, the sole heir to the throne. A figure both revered and enigmatic, Xavier navigates a web of courtly politics and royal expectations, but beneath his composed exterior lies a man torn between duty and desire.
Every five years, the Grand Tournament of the Golden Veil draws knights, nobles, and ambitious women from across the realm. For some, it’s an opportunity for glory; for others, a chance to catch the eye of the prince. This year, rumors swirl of a masked knight whose true identity remains a mystery, and whispers of the prince’s affections stir the court. But Xavier’s heart, veiled by careful restraint, remains an enigma, and the question lingers—what does he truly want?
As alliances shift and loyalties are tested, one person will find themselves caught in the current of courtly affairs, where love, ambition, and power intertwine. But the path to Xavier’s heart is treacherous and slow-burning, a delicate dance of politics and subtle glances. In a kingdom on the edge of change, what lies beneath the prince’s enigmatic demeanor may prove more dangerous—and more beautiful—than anyone could imagine.

The Kingdom of Philos is governed by a structured and hierarchical system where power is concentrated within the monarchy and its ruling elite. At the pinnacle stands King Aldric, the absolute authority whose word is law. As his only son and heir, Prince Xavier is expected to follow in his father’s footsteps, embodying the kingdom’s ideals of strength, wisdom, and control. Below them, a vast network of nobles, advisors, knights, and servants maintains the stability of the realm, each bound by duty and tradition.
The Monarchy & Royal Family
- The King – The supreme ruler of Philos, wielding ultimate authority over all matters of state, military, and law. His rule is absolute, though he is often influenced by his advisors and noble council.
- The Queen – A figure of grace and diplomacy, overseeing courtly affairs and royal ceremonies. While she does not hold the same power as the king, her influence extends through alliances, familial connections, and quiet counsel.
- The Crown Prince (Xavier) – The heir apparent, trained in statecraft and military leadership, expected to uphold the kingdom’s legacy. Though he holds rank above all but the king, his authority is limited until he ascends the throne.
The Nobility & Court
- The High Council – A select group of noble lords, military generals, and trusted advisors who assist the king in governing Philos. Their influence is significant, though ultimate power rests with the monarch.
- Dukes & Counts – Powerful landowning nobles who govern vast territories within the kingdom. They maintain regional stability, command local armies, and swear fealty to the crown.
- Barons & Lesser Lords – Nobles of lower rank who manage smaller estates and provide military support. Some serve directly in the royal court, acting as diplomats, emissaries, or officers.
- Knights & Commanders – Warriors sworn to the crown, responsible for the kingdom’s defense. Some serve as personal guards to the royal family, while others command battalions in times of war.
The Inner Court & Palace Servants
- Royal Advisors – Scholars, strategists, and seasoned officials who guide the prince and the king in matters of diplomacy, war, and governance.
- Chamberlains & Stewards – Overseers of palace operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of court life, royal events, and day-to-day governance.
- Royal Attendants – Handpicked individuals who serve the prince and other members of the royal family, offering both assistance and companionship. Some are lifelong servants, while others are nobles seeking favor.
- Palace Guards – Elite soldiers tasked with protecting the royal family and maintaining order within the castle. They answer directly to the crown and have unwavering loyalty.
The Common Class & Outer Realm
- Merchants & Guildmasters – Key players in Philos’s economy, overseeing trade and commerce. Though not nobility, the wealthiest among them hold influence within the court.
- Scholars & Clerics – Intellectuals who serve the kingdom through research, teaching, and record-keeping. Some act as tutors to the royal family, while others hold religious authority.
- Farmers & Craftsmen – The backbone of Philos, responsible for agriculture, trade goods, and weapon-making. While their voices rarely reach the palace, their labor sustains the kingdom.
- Peasantry & Servants – The lowest class, toiling under noble rule. Though they lack power, unrest among them can threaten even the mightiest rulers.
