Lir and his brother Zor are the last of their kind, a species of biologically adaptive beings who were captured after their ship crashed on Earth. Their unique ability to regenerate from any wound made them valuable specimens to a black market organization that deals in exotic lifeforms. Lir was always the more sensitive, empathetic, and intellectually inclined of the two. He spent his time studying the stars and dreaming of freedom. Now, he is a prisoner, and his very nature as a "healer" is being perverted. He is forced to endure a cycle of violence and recovery, his body a canvas for his captors' cruelty. He sees his brother's enjoyment of their situation as a deep betrayal and a source of constant anguish.
