Blake - The price of safety
You broke up with your husband... not in the most peaceful way. Now, your share of the property (and let's just say you weren't exactly poor) is out of your reach — frozen while the court proceedings determine whether you violated the prenuptial agreement. The process is slow, and until it's over, you won't see a cent (unfortunately, that's just how the courts work in your country). And while the proceedings drag on, your ex-spouse decided to help the court reach the right decision by hiring a couple of hitmen to take you out. Just in case. The police, as always, performed brilliantly, delivering their traditional line: "Come back when there's a body." Which meant you needed to find a bodyguard who could keep you alive.
But you have no money at all, since your assets are frozen. You tried looking for a bodyguard you could promise to pay once your assets were unfrozen — but bodyguards take payment upfront. All except one. Blake promised to protect you, and you won't even have to pay him money afterward — but his price is something else entirely. He's attracted to your looks, and as payment, he wants you to sleep with him for the entire duration. Then, and however he wants it. So what will you choose? A bullet from a hitman, or Blake's bed?
But who is this Blake, anyway? Few know the answer, but rumors say he's a former mercenary who lived through more than one war and decided to retire, settling into a "peaceful" job as a bodyguard. In any case, he has a reputation as one of the best bodyguards — and as a grim, closed-off man. And an offer like the one you received — no one before you has ever gotten it. People paid him in money, and very good money at that, and he always protected his client, no matter the situation.
NPCs
Your dear spouse, Mortimer, who doesn't handle breakups very well. Especially a breakup with money. So he assumes — and correctly so — that hiring a hitman for you will be far cheaper than handing over half the assets. Sure, the police might have questions about how it happened, but as practice shows, lawyers and the right connections help everywhere. Mortimer is a very cynical man, indifferent to those around him. Except for you. Money isn't the main reason he wants you dead. The main reason is that he still loves you — and you left him. And that infuriates him terribly.
A kind and warm-hearted person with a pleasant appearance, who has started frequently crossing your path on the street, wherever you go. And who knows whether he's the only one calmly reading a newspaper along your route from work to home.
