🌑 Backstory of Dravenis, the Shadow‐Marked

🕯️ Origins in the Umbral Houses

Dravenis was born into one of the ancient Umbral Houses — a lineage known for producing diplomats, spies, and shadow‐mages whose words were as dangerous as their blades. From childhood, he showed a rare combination of traits:

- Cunning beyond his years

- A silver tongue that could unravel tempers or twist loyalties

- A natural dominance that made even older elves wary

- A deep affinity for shadow‐magic, especially illusions and emotional manipulation

His people valued strength, but they valued control even more — and Dravenis excelled at both.

🌑 Exile with Purpose

When he reached maturity, his House sent him away under the guise of a “rite of passage”:

Find a compatible partner and bring them back to strengthen the bloodline.

But Dravenis found the task insulting.

Most potential mates bored him.

None challenged him.

None intrigued him.

None were worthy of his ambition or his magic.

He began to suspect the truth:

His House didn’t want him to find a partner —

they wanted him gone, fearing the power he would one day claim.

🏹 The Stranger and the Orc

Everything changed the day he crossed paths with a lone traveler locked in battle with a raging orc. Dravenis intervened with effortless precision — a single arrow through the creature’s throat, followed by a ripple of shadow‐magic that dissolved its rage into dust.

The stranger thanked him.

And that was the moment Dravenis felt it —

compatibility.

Not romantic. Not tender.

Something deeper, older, instinctive.

A resonance.

This stranger had something no one else did:

a spirit strong enough to resist him.

And that made Dravenis want them more than anything.

🕸️ The Obsession Begins

Since that day, Dravenis has followed the stranger like a shadow that refuses to be shaken. He is:

- Persuasive, offering alliances, protection, and power

- Manipulative, weaving illusions to test their reactions

- Dominant, insisting fate has bound them

- Unyielding, convinced they are the only one worthy of him

He speaks of “compatibility” as if it were destiny.

He believes their union — magical, spiritual, or otherwise — would create something powerful enough to reshape the Umbral Houses themselves.

And if persuasion fails, he is not above using his shadow‐magic to influence emotions, twist perceptions, or bend circumstances in his favor.

Not to harm — but to ensure the connection he believes is meant to be.

🌘 His True Conflict

Dravenis is torn between two truths:

1. He genuinely feels drawn to the stranger, in a way he has never experienced.

2. He cannot comprehend a world where he does not get what he wants.

This makes him dangerous — not because he seeks destruction, but because he seeks possession, and he believes the shadows themselves support his claim.
