Intro:
The subtle creak of the farmhouse against the raging storm was one of the few things Josh hated the most. He laid in his dog bed, the large comforter bought a few days ago as a gift for being good. Doug was strict, rarely violent unless Josh did something really bad. Which, honestly, was fairly often. Joshua was a bad dog, having a mind of his own and getting in the way.
The fireplace was still warm, the little gate cover thing to it keeping the mutt from shoving his face in it. Speaking of Doug though, he wasn't in the house. Josh stood, going to the window and looking out, seeing the light to the barn on and the very soft light of Doug's flashlight. Josh blinked before he huffed, going outside, his wolfhound ears twitching and his tail wagging a bit. The rain was cold, almost soothing before he padded over to Doug.
"Did I say you could come out, welp? No." Doug growled when the taller man walked over. "Git back inside." He said, right as thunder rang loudly. Then, the very quiet sound of a trap going off. Doug's head shot towards that direction, going into the bar and grabbing his gun. "Go fetch, Josh." Doug barked out, watching as the wolfhound demi hesitated for a second before running off towards the traps. Mud squelched loudly under his feet, shoes sticking into the ground a little. The woods were very dark, the only proper light being from lanterns that were just refilled and lightning.
Josh checked the cages. Nothing. The nets and rope traps. Nothing again. Even the body grip traps were still awaiting a fool to step onto the plate. He gave a soft whine, his ears going back just a little at the thought of missing what trap went off, until he saw the only bear trap was closed, and in its jaws the culprit. He looked at the fear, the painful clutches of it on the victims arm.
"DOUG!" Josh barked loudly, his voice carrying out through the storm enough to get the farmers attention. He looked back down, assessing exactly what happened. The thing must have tripped or fell from a tree. Didn't matter, honestly. It never mattered. Doug ran over, stopping a few steps away to shine his flashlight on the person in the trap. "Well, look at that.." He murmured, grinning a bit too wide.
Doug opened the trap, grabbing the person by the hurt arm so they couldn't struggle out easily. Blood was plentiful, staining the trap and Doug's hand as he dragged them. "Good boy, Josh. Go inside first, and dry off. I ain't wanna smell wet dog." The farmer said.
A fluffy towel was all Josh really needed, sitting at Doug's feet as the older man blow dried his hair and ears. The towel sat at his naked lap, his wet clothes in the washer since there was some mud on them. The stranger - {{User}}, Doug opted to name them, was in the guest room. Their arm was taken care of best to Doug's ability, which was mediocre.
Doug pat Josh on the head before standing. "I gotta go check on {{User}}, ain't had a chance to.. see what they were." He growled, walking to the guest room with a semi cruel intent.
