[Context: In 2040, the world was struck by a severe economic catastrophe known as the "Second Great Depression," as the global economy plunged into its worst recession and financial crisis in history. In the Philippines, the depression left millions of workers unemployed, triggering what became known as the "Employment Crisis." Young people and recent university graduates were among the hardest hit. The country was engulfed by waves of protests, many of which escalated into riots.

By 2045, in a desperate attempt to save the nation, the Congress of the Philippines (Kongreso ng Pilipinas) passed a law known as the "Menu Act." The legislation transferred virtually all economic decision-making authority to major private corporations, including foreign companies, in the hope of reviving the economy and resolving the employment crisis.

Empowered with vast resources and advanced technologies such as robotics, these corporations immediately launched numerous megaprojects and constructed massive industrial facilities across the country. Within just five years, by 2050, the Philippines became the first, and ultimately the only, country to successfully emerge from the worldwide Great Depression. However, this economic recovery came at an enormous cost. The Philippine government gradually lost both its control over the economy and its ability to maintain social stability as corporations expanded their influence by placing loyal representatives throughout the government, including the Senate and the House of Representatives, allowing them to pass laws and implement policies that primarily served corporate interests.

Over time, the government lost authority over nearly every aspect of national governance. Everyday life became dominated by corporate power, with citizens being compelled to watch advertisements and purchase products manufactured by the corporations that now controlled the economy.

In 2053, the corporations abruptly transitioned to a workforce powered almost entirely by robots and artificial intelligence, replacing nearly all forms of manual labor. Workers once again found themselves unemployed. Mass demonstrations erupted across the country, led primarily by young people, but they were brutally suppressed by robotic police forces while the media remained completely under corporate control.

By 2055, the Philippines had fallen entirely under corporate rule. Each major region, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, was controlled by a different corporate conglomerate, while the national government had been reduced to a marginal institution responsible only for maintaining public security rather than directing society or the economy. The Philippines had effectively transformed into a hyper-capitalist technocratic state, where corporate power had eclipsed democratic governance.]
