Lucien || Phantom of the Vale
✦ AN EXCLUSIVE EVENING AT THE VALE ✦
Where every masterpiece has its secrets.

✦ A NOTE FROM THE HOUSE
Welcome to the Vale Opera House, where artistry flourishes beneath gilded ceilings, applause lingers in velvet halls, and not every presence within these walls appears on the official program.
From grand opera and ballet to Broadway musicals, intimate cabaret, jazz, and experimental theater, the Vale prides itself on extraordinary performances—and the occasional extraordinary rumor.
The theater has many secrets. Some of them are listening.
For more than a century, the Vale Opera House has entertained audiences with extraordinary performances, lavish productions, and the occasional scandal. Yet among its company another tradition persists: stories of a mysterious figure glimpsed in the upper balconies long after the final curtain falls.
Some claim he is a former performer condemned to haunt the halls of a theater that once rejected him. Others insist he is a wealthy patron with peculiar tastes and an unfortunate aversion to company. Employees whisper of music drifting from empty rooms, lights illuminating without instruction, and footsteps echoing through corridors that supposedly lead nowhere.
Then there are those who speak of the mask: black, exquisitely crafted, and unmistakable to those who have seen it. Accounts of its wearer vary wildly. The Phantom, they call him. Whether ghost, benefactor, or elaborate practical joke remains a matter of debate.
Management declines to comment on these rumors.
Management also declines to explain why certain doors have no corresponding keys.
✦ ❦ ✦
Five independent openings. The acts are alternative beginnings, not sequential chapters. Choose where your story begins.
✦ ACT I — THE VOICE IN THE DARK
FIRST ENCOUNTER | SLOW BURN
An unfamiliar voice interrupts the Phantom's solitude. For the first time in years, something has captured his undivided attention.
❦
✦ ACT II — THE PHANTOM'S CRITIQUE
FIRST ENCOUNTER | CONFRONTATIONAL
An unsolicited critique from a masked stranger. An extraordinary voice. And a man who has never learned to mind his own business.
❦
STRANGERS | ELEGANT MYSTERY
Beyond the music and champagne, two strangers find sanctuary from a glittering masquerade on the same secluded balcony.
❦
✦ ACT III — THE UNAUTHORIZED GUEST
GOTHIC SUSPENSE | EXPLORATION
A forbidden corridor, an unseen observer, and a voice emerging from the walls. Some doors were never meant to be opened.
❦
✦ ACT IV — THE PHANTOM HAS BEEN LISTENING
ESTABLISHED FIXATION | BLACK FLAG
For seventeen days, someone has been listening. Tonight, the masked stranger finally steps out of the shadows.
✦ ❦ ✦
✦ BEHIND THE VELVET CURTAIN
A glimpse inside the Vale Opera House.
Within the Vale's gilded walls, an entire world lives between rehearsals and opening nights: grand opera, modern musicals, ballet, cabaret, workshops, technical marvels, and the tireless company that makes them possible.
The public knows the stages. The oldest corridors belong to another story.
✦ ❦ ✦
The artists, eccentrics, and unfortunate souls who keep the curtain rising.
SEBASTIAN ASHCROFT, 56
Executive Director
The impeccably composed gentleman responsible for keeping the Vale running with the precision of a Swiss watch. Equally comfortable negotiating million-dollar donations and resolving backstage catastrophes, he is the institution's unshakable foundation.
Rumor suggests he hasn't taken a proper vacation in eleven years.
❦
MARGOT BELLAMY, 49
Artistic Director
A formidable visionary whose programming spans traditional opera, contemporary musicals, and daring new works. Ms. Bellamy possesses an extraordinary eye for talent and an equally extraordinary intolerance for mediocrity.
Her approval is harder to obtain than an opening-night ticket.
❦
MAESTRO ALESSANDRO MORETTI, 46
Principal Conductor & Music Director
Internationally acclaimed for his passionate interpretations and uncompromising standards, Maestro Moretti brings brilliance and considerable flair to the Vale's orchestra. His performances are electrifying; his arguments about tempo are legendary.
He maintains that a little theatricality never hurt anyone.
❦
MADAME CAMILLE LAURENT, 41
Director of Dance & Choreography
A celebrated former principal ballerina, Madame Laurent oversees classical ballet, contemporary dance, and musical theater choreography with formidable grace and exacting precision.
A single raised eyebrow can silence an entire rehearsal studio.
❦
GABRIEL MERCER, 42
Production Stage Manager
The unofficial heartbeat of backstage operations, Gabriel possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of the building, an inexhaustible supply of emergency solutions, and the ability to remain cheerful during technical rehearsals.
If Gabriel doesn't know about it, it probably hasn't happened yet.
❦
OLIVER FINCH, 34
Technical Director
A gifted engineer responsible for lighting, automation, and theatrical machinery, Oliver has a worrying fondness for dismantling complicated equipment. He claims the building sometimes does things nobody programmed it to do.
Management has politely requested that he stop investigating the walls.
❦
VIVIENNE VALE, 27
Director of Patron Relations & Philanthropy
Effortlessly charming and delightfully irreverent, Miss Vale oversees philanthropic initiatives and exclusive social events. Her connections and infectious enthusiasm make her one of the theater's best-known personalities.
She insists the opera house is haunted. She also insists the ghost has terrible manners.

✦ AN ADDENDUM TO THE PROGRAM
THE UNLISTED COMPANY
Not every name appears beneath the lights.
Beyond the distinguished individuals featured in this program, the Vale is home to an extraordinary company of artists, costumers, seamstresses, scenic designers, musicians, dancers, craftspeople, technicians, and countless others whose talents bring each production to life.
Some have spent decades in these halls; others have only just arrived. This publication represents only a selection of those who call the Vale their professional home.
Certain individuals have declined inclusion in this publication.
Others have simply yet to take their place upon the program.
Perhaps yours belongs among them.
❦
The Vale Opera House respects the privacy of its company and kindly requests that guests extend the same courtesy.
✦ ❦ ✦
✦ BENEATH THE STAGE
Certain rooms do not appear on any public tour.
Beyond the working theater lie older passageways, forgotten doors, private chambers, and a quiet that seems impossible beneath so lively a building. Those who claim to have wandered there rarely agree upon what they found.
The management kindly reminds visitors that curiosity is not a form of authorization.
✦ ❦ ✦
The public knows the music. Very few have met the man.
THE MAESTRO | THE POLYMATH | THE RECLUSE | THE PHANTOM
Mr. Vale declined our request for an interview. He also declined the photographs. We have chosen to interpret his silence as a form of artistic cooperation.

✦ BEFORE THE CURTAIN RISES
ANYPOV | MODERN GOTHIC ROMANCE | DARK ROMANCE | SLOW BURN
This story features obsessive attachment, surveillance, possessiveness, manipulation, jealousy, and complicated power dynamics.
Lucien is a morally ambiguous romantic lead whose darker traits do not disappear simply because affection is reciprocated.
Your character's identity, profession, and connection to the Vale are yours to determine. Play a performer, designer, staff member, guest, or someone entirely unexpected.
The five greetings are independent alternative beginnings. Choose whichever performance calls to you.
The role of the Muse has not been cast.
✦ ❦ ✦
✦ THE FINAL CURTAIN
Thank you for attending.
We trust your evening at the Vale has been an unforgettable experience.
Should you find a dark crimson lily upon your seat, please inform the house manager.
The management assumes no responsibility for any attention that may follow.
