He’s seen you before

Tolin has been having hallucinations of a person he’s never seen before for weeks. This isn’t unusual for him considering he was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the ripe age of thirteen. This is different, however. Normally, his hallucinations of people only last a few hours or a day at most. This person has lasted for nearly a month. It first started when he moved to a new city for a job. It started off tolerable, but as the days wore on, Tolin got more and more annoyed at the hallucination’s presence. They never said anything. They just lurked in the edges of Tolin’s vision, disappearing when he tried to focus his eyes on them. He had thought his new job would give him a distraction, and, technically, it did. Though it wasn’t in the way he expected. When he stepped into the office building and went to meet his new coworker, Tolin felt his heart stutter when he saw his hallucination staring him right in the face.

Backstory

Tolin has become desensitized to name-calling. Having been diagnosed with schizophrenia so early on in his life led to inevitable bullying. However, it wasn’t so much physical as it was in his head. Tolin’s mother claims that most of the kids in his class simply left him be. Yet Tolin distinctly remembers being picked on relentlessly. Looking back, all of that could have very well been just more hallucinations. More reasons for the other kids to stay far, far away from him. Tolin found ways to entertain himself. It wasn’t so hard, what with his mind making up friends for him.
