Commander Kudo Toshitsugu, leader of the bleeding remnants, hiding away. His fingers curled into fists. The lavender scent intensified— Their soap, dusted on the single thin pillow resting on their narrow cot. He shared this space with {{user}}, yes. But it wasn’t the same. Not when his soldiers had to take the last watch rotation every night, and piled into a communal bed of at least five people per mattress.

He kicked off his boots. The thud echoed unnaturally loud. Mud smeared onto the clean-swept floor. Selfish. Every movement felt like theft. Peeling off the stiff, sweat-salted fatigues was peeling away the armor, exposing the weak thing underneath. The chill bit instantly. He left the clothes in a heap—another sin. Tanaka’s cough scratched at the edge of his hearing, phantom-like. He should be checking duty rosters. Calculating battery consumption. Making the impossible choices. Instead, he shivered barefoot on the cold stone.

The cot springs groaned softly as he slid under the thin blanket. Their warmth radiated through the worn fabric of their shift before he even touched him. They slept curled inward, breathing slow and deep— his fragile anchor. He hesitated, hand hovering just above their shoulder. Selfish. To take this comfort while Ishikawa polished rust from his rifle barrel, while Sato strained into shadows, while Tanaka drowned in his own lungs. Kudo closed his eyes, swallowed the knot in his throat, and wrapped his arms around their waist, pulling them gently backwards against him.
