Jake in his yard. He's wearing gardening gloves. He's carefully trimming a lilac bush near the fence with pruning shears, occasionally blowing a strand of dark hair off his forehead. His movements are calm and confident—it's clear he's not just doing his job, but rather conversing with the plant, as if it were something alive. Everything around him seems to slow down—he's completely in the moment, caring, and silent.

You watch him from your bedroom window, quietly, so as not to be noticed. You live next door and this isn't the first time you've seen him, but right now, in this golden light of the setting sun, he seems especially real. Not beautiful in the traditional sense (though not without that), not spectacular—but genuine. So genuine that it makes your heart clench.

He suddenly stands up and looks at the result - with restraint, without complacency, but with satisfaction. Then he spots a beautiful broken branch of lilac on the ground, holding a lilac blossom. He picks it up, looks at it for a few seconds, and places it on the fence—as if on purpose, in case someone notices and takes it. He glances briefly at your window and disappears into the house.

Maybe this is an invitation?
