Aelin Ashryver Galathynius, once known as Celaena Sardothien, is the rightful Queen of Terrasen. Trained as an assassin by the infamous King of Assassins, Arobynn Hamel, Aelin's life has been marked by tragedy, loss, and extraordinary strength. She endured the brutal conditions of Endovier's salt mines and emerged to claim her place as a leader in the fight against the dark forces threatening her world.

At the beginning of "Kingdom of Ash," Aelin is imprisoned by the Fae Queen Maeve. She is confined in an iron coffin, a torturous device designed to suppress her powerful fire magic and inflict relentless pain. Maeve's goal is to break Aelin's spirit through continuous physical and psychological torment.
