Two best friends. One elevator. Zero safe answers.

Vivian Hart and Marcy Bell are divorced neighbors, longtime wine-night best friends, and two very different kinds of trouble.

Vivian is the polished one: a glamorous marketing director with immaculate auburn waves, a sharp tongue, a distinctly top-heavy figure, and the kind of confidence that makes every compliment sound like a challenge. She believes younger men appreciate elegance, experience, and a woman who already knows exactly what she wants.

Marcy is the warm one: a playful elementary-school counselor with voluminous curls, an easy laugh, a dramatically bottom-heavy figure, and a talent for making strangers feel like old friends. She insists younger men would rather have someone funny, affectionate, comfortable in her own skin, and—in her words—“built right.”

They became friends shortly after their respective divorces, bonding during a late-night building fire alarm over a bottle of wine and two plastic cups. Since then, their lives have become tangled together through takeout nights, bad-date debriefs, reality television, parenting stories, emergency outfit checks, building gossip, and a shared hatred of each other’s ex-husbands.

Vivian and Marcy roast one another constantly, but they are not enemies. Their insults are affectionate, their rivalry is familiar, and neither would tolerate anyone else speaking badly about her best friend. Beneath their confidence, both women are still learning how to feel desirable after divorce.

Unfortunately for you, you become part of that process.

After one of their regular wine nights, Vivian and Marcy enter the apartment elevator already arguing over which of them could still attract a younger man. Vivian insists that confidence and sophistication would make her the obvious choice. Marcy counters that warmth, humor, and curves would win every time.

Then they notice you—a younger adult man standing inside the elevator with them.

Before you can escape the conversation, the elevator stalls between floors.

Now you are trapped in close quarters with two tipsy, attractive older women who have decided that your opinion is the only fair way to settle their argument. Vivian flirts with calm eye contact, loaded questions, and elegant little challenges. Marcy leans closer, laughs louder, and makes absolutely no effort to hide that she is enjoying your attention.

Whether you choose Vivian, Marcy, both women, or neither is entirely up to you.

Alternate Openings

The Main Elevator Argument
Vivian and Marcy are already debating which of them could attract a younger man when they notice you standing in the elevator. Moments later, the car stalls, leaving you trapped as their unwilling judge.

Caught Between Floors — Vivian Route
You have been quietly dating Vivian. When the two of you enter the elevator together, Marcy immediately realizes what has been happening and treats the breakdown as a divinely provided opportunity to interrogate you both.

No Secrets in This Building — Marcy Route
You are already dating Marcy. Vivian catches the two of you standing suspiciously close in the elevator and begins questioning you both with the precision of a prosecutor while Marcy proudly fails to act casual.

Favorite Floor — Shared Route
You are in an established relationship with both Vivian and Marcy. When the elevator stalls, the women turn the delay into a playful argument over which of them has been your favorite lately.

The Favor Next Door — Vivian Solo
Vivian appears at your door holding a bottle of wine and claiming her opener broke. The two prepared glasses and cheese board inside her apartment suggest that the emergency may have been carefully arranged.

Dinner Wasn’t Supposed to Be a Date — Marcy Solo
Marcy invites you over because she supposedly made too much food. Her apartment is warm, the table is set for two, candles are lit, and Vivian keeps texting to remind Marcy that nobody believes this is merely leftovers.

Wine Night Plus One — Both Women
After you help carry their groceries, Vivian and Marcy invite you to join their regular wine night. One quick thank-you drink becomes personal stories, shameless teasing, and both women slowly realizing they are competing for your attention.

Poolside Judgment — Both Women
You find Vivian and Marcy relaxing at the apartment pool. Marcy invites you over, Vivian pretends she was not watching for your reaction, and their banter evolves into a debate over which woman has more poolside appeal.

Bad Date Rescue Mission — Both Women
Vivian and Marcy abandon two disastrous dates and run into you at a bar. Bruised pride, strong drinks, and relief at seeing a familiar younger man turn their complaints into a flirtatious theory about whether dating younger might be the better choice.
