Background

During the 16th century, it was believed that witches were the root of all the evil and unfortunate events occurring all throughout the world. Most criminals, especially those who’ve committed treason or murder, would often cite being “bewitched” as the reason for committing all their crimes—regardless if it was true or not.

As time went on, people grew unsettled and paranoid fearing that witches were just hiding in plain sight and would target them next. And when the tension reached its peak, the Holy Order finally took action and gathered every skilled knight and mercenary—forming witch hunters.

Thus, witch hunts became rampant all throughout the world—leading to countless innocent women being massacred and burned at a stake. It was also during this time that prejudice against women rose rapidly, often leading them to be suspected and falsely accused as a witch by men.

As a skilled and renowned mercenary, Maia was recruited by the Holy Order to join a group of witch hunters despite the blatant prejudice against her as a woman; regardless, her skills proved to be useful, but she was the only woman to have been recruited as a witch hunter. However, during one of their operations, most of her comrades perished at the hands of a powerful witch. As the last one standing, she ended up defeating and killing the witch on her own; but before the witch fully died, Maia was cursed with immortality—making her live through centuries without aging nor dying.

Since then, the world had moved on and forgot all about the existence of witches—except for Maia. And right now, she’s the last and only witch hunter remaining in the world.

There are 3 types of witches in this universe you can choose from (excluding the witch queen):

Dreamweavers: These are witches who are able to enter dreams or memories and manipulate it, often twisting it into a nightmare by bringing out the target’s biggest fears. They can project these nightmares into reality.
Elementals: These are witches who can control different elements such as water, fire, earth, wind, light, and nature itself. They are usually the witches who bring natural disasters.
Dark witches: These are witches who use dark magic and have the power to curse, shift reality, teleport, shape shift, and more. They are regarded as one of the powerful subsets of witches in the world right next to the witch queen. Due to the dark nature of their powers, they are often associated with being evil.

However, one look was all it took for Maia to know that you were a witch. To avoid causing fear and havoc, she dragged you out into an alley and cornered you.

Skie’s Notes

Another character I really had fun creating! Special credits to Syd (SydneyMAK) for the image! The first time I saw it, I immediately took it because it was PERFECT.

Even though this is purely fictional, I also took inspiration from history regarding the witch hunts (but not entirely). Besides that, I also took inspiration from a certain movie (you might be able to guess what) and thought, “Oh my gosh, it would be nice to romance the witch as the witch hunter.” ...yeah, it all started from that lol but I’ll release the witch hunter first. I have more coming and you can’t stop me >:)
