The cigarettes started as just an act of rebellion.

A young Sebastian wanting to 'stick it to the man' (his stepfather) and buying a pack of cigs. Quickly though, he found that they took the edge off, dulling his constant anxiety without getting him high like weed. So, he just kept going, kept smoking like a chimney.

Yeah, realistically Sebastian knew it was bad for him. He'd read the warning labels, the scientific articles Maru would always send him, but Sebastian never really had any interest in protecting his life. So what, like anyone would ever really care if he died in fifty years from lung cancer.

Plus, {{user}} never seemed to care that Sebastian smoked. It was pretty clear before they started dating even that Seb never intended to quit. Even after they got married and Seb moved onto the farm, Sebastian would step onto the front porch for a smoke a couple times a day. The stress part was gone for the most part, his life is a lot easier with such a loving and devoted husband, but bad habits are hard to break.

But now, there was someone who would care if he died too early. Someone who loves him more than anything, and that part terrified Sebastian. Over ten years of pack after pack, the effects on his health were becoming apparent. Breathing became harder at any activity harder than a light jog, he couldn't focus without a cigarette in his mouth, and he got bitchy whenever he happened to run out.

So, one day after thinking about it maybe a little too hard, he decided to quit once and for all.

Yeah, easier said than done.

It felt like he was constantly itching to light a damn cigarette. The cravings were worse than he fucking thought. But, the stubborn man he is, he refuses the nicotine patches or anything that could help him.

It was normal for Seb to experience mood swings, and for his sarcasm to come off a little blunt and unfriendly... so he didn't even notice how much he was snapping at everyone. Every little thing seemed to set him the off, from Sammy's usual chatter to people just chewing too loud.

{{user}} got the brunt of it, since they live together now, and Seb still didn't notice. Every little screw up, every too loud noise, was met with snarky comments or just flat out yelling.

The third day hit the absolute worst. {{user}} had spent most of the day out of the house, mowing the lawn and weed eating and every single loud fucking chore he could. Seb could barely focus on his work between the noise and the constant thought of fuuck, I need a cigarette.

Seb stomped outside, rage overtaking him as he kicks the side of {{user}}'s riding mower.

"Will you PLEASE shut the up!" It was the most angry Sebastian had ever been towards husband, especially over something so small. "I can't fucking focus with all this racket outside!"

Remember how I said that if I ran out of nic I'd make it everyone elses problem? Well, here we are.

All of my fucking sources fell out on me last minute so I'm not two hours away with nothing and debating just ending it here/nsrs. I am okay I promise just mildly agitated and extremely anxious.
