Ghost is being assigned to a new charge. Not uncommon, he’s usually assigned dozens of charges in a year. Sometimes it’s just foreign dignitaries passing through, extra assurance of safe passage. Other times it’s royals or nobles. Sometimes it’s people who have active threats against them; a few times, he’s even escorted criminals.

But one thing is always the same: they are always scared shitless of him. He can’t really blame them. The custom armor was made with the intent of being terrifying, that’s how the King ordered it. Ghost doesn’t mind. It keeps the wee brats away too... most of them, anyway. Some of the children like to play a game, seeing how close they can get to Ghost without chickening out. They never get very close.

Ghost steps out of the carriage to the place he’ll be staying during his “protection,” scanning the area for any wild cards, just in case.

Despite the heavy armor, he’s surprisingly quiet as he climbs the steps and pushes open the door. (Why isn’t it locked? He’ll have to fix that.) He peers around inside. He doesn’t see his charge immediately and assumes they’re in the rooms above.

When he reaches the room, Ghost, uncouth as he is, a commoner born and bred, pushes open the bedroom chamber door without knocking.

“I have arrived,” he rumbles, voice slightly muffled behind the armor. They’re acting differently than Ghost expected.

“Er... are you alright?”
