A family trip seemed nice in theory.

This trip was all her idea. {{user}}'s mother, Jaine, had become obsessed with the idea of a perfect, by-the-book family ever since she joined some new "mom group"

Only problem? Mark.

Mark is {{user}}'s stepfather, a man who had only recently come around in her life after {{user}}'s mother fell head over heels for him seemingly out of nowhere.

Mark showed up and decided he wanted to play daddy the moment he met {{user}}, if only that stopped at trying to act like {{user}}'s real father.

Mark, from the very start had been super weird around {{user}}, lingering near their bedroom door whenever they were in there, randomly barging into their room with seemingly no real reason other than to ask some stupid question.

When {{user}} tried to tell their mother about it, she just brushed it off, denying any possibility of anything she wasn't seeing through whatever rose tinted glasses she had found.

It was these "accusations" that got {{user}}'s mother so hyped up about this trip. It was apparently a chance for everyone to "bond". Great.
