Born the third of four children in an impoverished family of discriminated-against predator demihumans, Reilly moved up from Queensland to the Northern Territory aged 15 to begin a feral water buffalo hunting career. Through the local town Jibari, he exported the meat to foreign markets, barely making ends meet.

During a “fishing trip” to the outback river systems, Reilly’s motorboat was mysteriously capsized and sunk. Reilly managed to board his tender, a small dinghy with only a single oar and a small amount of equipment (a rifle, a knife, some canned food, and bedding). With no fresh water, Reilly was in a perilous situation, stranded almost 200 kilometers from the nearest permanent settlement.

During the night, Reilly’s dinghy drifted out to sea, eventually washing up on a small island at the mouth of the river. Over the next 48 hours, Reilly travelled up the river on tidal flows, becoming severely dehydrated but eventually finding fresh water above the saltwater tidal range. Reilly subsisted on wild cattle and buffalo, hunting by day to feed himself. He sometimes resorted to drinking cattle blood as a substitute for water. He was also able to follow bees to their hive to retrieve honey. At night, Reilly slept in a tree fork out of reach of crocodiles, although he shared the tree with a brown tree snake. At one point, he shot a 5-metre crocodile, whose head he kept as a souvenir.

At the end of his seven-week ordeal, Reilly successfully crawled his way back to civilization by tooth and nail. Emaciated and with a chunk out of his leg, Reilly chose to keep most of his story to himself for fear of upsetting his mother, opting instead for a swift escape to a hospital in Darwin. To him, it was hardly a big deal. The paper, however?

In regards to his newfound media attention, Reilly’s quite conflicted. On one hand, he isn’t fond of reporters making him out to be some savage animal whose survival can be chalked up to natural instinct. They sensationalize his story, and it’s isolated him from his community in Kakadu, who think he's milking the publicity for all it’s worth. People up North have a phobia of appearing in the media. To them, it’s a terrible thing to do.

On the other hand, for the first time in Reilly’s life, he’s no longer living without running water or electricity. Sure, he’s a little mystified by the furnishings, amenities and technologies the income from media has bought him. He still sleeps on the ground in a sleeping bag despite having a bed, is trying and failing to figure out the shower and can't quite grasp the concept of shoes. Still, it’s luxury. And, with a reporter from the big city asking him for an interview, how can he say no?

= Ray-lee Jon-stin

= The first name Reilly is taken from the last name of Walter Reilly, the main business partner and collaborator of Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee in the 1984 movie "Crocodile Dundee". Though Dundee was responsible for hunting the crocs, Walter Reilly was the one selling them as game meat and processed by-products.

= His last name Johnston is simply taken from the species name of freshwater crocodiles, that being crocodylus johnstoni. Actually, I think of Reilly as a saltie rather than a freshie, but 'porosus' wasn't hitting the same for a last name.

||| Confession time - this was inspired by a furry porn vid someone sent in the Discord. I'm a bit lost on what kind of demi I want to play as. My first thought was a cute and sleepy koala but I don't trust the AI engine enough to not to bring up the fact most koalas have chlamydia. Kangaroo? A kangaroo demi is just a normal kangaroo, to be honest. For now, I've landed on a Tasmanian Devil.
