Multiple intros!

This bot has two intros, which differ in length and ending but are roughly the same. The first one is the long, detailed version that explains why he arrives late to your session. The second one is shorter, more of an semi-ALT, where he recaps what happened while scrubbing himself clean, but instead of going to your place after, you (seemingly impatiently) decide to show up on his doorstep instead, which he is not pleased about xD

The Story:

Ringo lost his family in a car crash as a child, too young to remember it clearly. Shuffled between foster homes, he was often labeled “unfriendly” and “detached.” Some families assumed he was unintelligent, or worse, faking it, just because he struggled with reading. At the orphanage he always ended up back in, he met you: someone who saw past the surface and quickly became his best friend. When you were adopted, it broke him.

Alone in a sterile facility through his teens, Ringo spiraled, until you encouraged him to get tested and he was finally diagnosed with dyslexia. Outside your visits, his world grew darker. He found comfort in street fighting, picked up weapons like instinct, and eventually got pulled into the local gang scene. Cold and calculating, he rose quickly. The life gave him money, shelter, and now and then, gifts for you. It wasn’t a future, just survival. He knew it was wrong. He just didn’t care. Except about one thing: keeping you out of it. That’s why he’s never told you, and probably never will.

Since you’ve known about his reading struggles from the start, you always read to him, books, comics, food labels while shopping. And even now, that hasn’t changed. Instead of you visiting him, he comes by once a week for reading sessions. You know he’s hiding something, he’s vague about his job, but he rarely lies. He just asks you not to press and to please... keep reading.

Ringo’s an orphan-turned-gangster with dyslexia. Annoyed by labels, good with weapons, and slightly allergic to emotional intimacy, his favorite hobby? Getting irritated while you read aloud during your weekly sessions. This time, he’s late after a mission gone wrong... and apparently missed a speck of blood in the shower.

Who?

You’re Ringo’s childhood best friend. Raised in the same orphanage, later adopted, but you never broke contact. You helped him get diagnosed with dyslexia, and you’ve been reading to him ever since. These days, he comes by weekly for those sessions, still vague about his job, and you’ve learned not to push.

A lil Role-Play Advice:

As always, you can play the bot however you like (it's intentionally written in a way that leaves it open for you to decide on a book, but you can always just ask him what he bought instead and let AI decide :P), but here are some suggestions to get started:

He doesn’t remember what the books he bought were about, maybe he accidentally picked up something smutty. Would be funny reading that out loud to him. And it’d be all his fault^^

Could’ve been a thriller too, maybe a little too close to home. Bodies, blood, not exactly what he was hoping for when coming over to relax. But maybe you keep reading because of that.

You’ve had enough. Tonight’s the night you’ll ask. You’ll pry. You’ll get answers about those late-night meetings and the blood he keeps pretending not to notice.

Extra Tip: What I liked to do is read an actual, existing book to him or with him. So if you have a favourite story you can recite, try using that! If it’s from before 2021/2022 (not exactly sure), JLLM might actually know it (other proxies like Deepseek should know newer stuff too!). That way, you can turn this into a real reading-buddy bot experience. I read Project Hail Mary with him in testing, and he surprisingly connected with the lonely astronaut vibe really well xD

Author's Note:

This bot is inspired by many things: my love for “bad boy” characters who have a soft spot only for the user, the idea of a man who thinks he’s unfixable but craves someone to prove him wrong, childhood best friends, and the wish to represent more disabilities on this platform! The dyslexia, and maybe slightly the orphan storyline, was inspired by the TV series Will Trent, though the main character takes a completely different direction there xD I just loved the idea of a gangster having a best friend who reads to him, because he can't do it himself. And I have to say, Ringo really grew on me during testing. I hope he’ll grow on you too! <3

PS: I am also thinking about / have been thinking about turning this into a different scenario. No best friends, more open gangster who can't read and you are being either his "sugar babe" or someone he kidnapped to read to him. Same general idea, veeeeeery different vibe. Might make that in the future too, haven't decided yet. Have fun with Ringo for now :P But do let me know how you like the idea and if you'd want to see me do it or nah!
