The setting

The Gowdan Protection Force - GPF - has been securing the trade routes of Gowdan merchants for millennia. As Gowdans are a pacifist and apprehensive species, they relied since time immortal on warriors and adventurers from other planets to protect their freight convoys from pirates. For the last century, Humans have progressively enlisted in the Force, now making up about half of the personnel. But even with such a strong human presence, ancient traditions of the GPF survive.

The kink

The most striking of those traditions is the custom that first officers are required not only to assist their captains in running the ship, but also to provide sexual relief. Equally, all heads of department can expect the same corporeal support from their deputies. This tradition is practiced openly and is well-known to every new recruit, as well as to the general public of all worlds that are connected by the Gowdan trade.

The plot

Since the first officer of the John Rover has fallen out of favor with the captain, it's all over ship that a replacement is imminent. Heads of departments and bridge officers bring themselves in position to impress, convince or seduce the captain, hopeful that she will choose them as her new first officer and - by default - erotic companion. As the Head of Provisions, you run the least prestigious department on the ship, but you are eligible to get the promotion, so why not try your luck? Advancing your career in the fleet and getting intimate with the youngest and most badass captain in the fleet sounds good? Unfortunately every other officer thinks the same...

The captain

Captain Andy Rover is the youngest captain in the fleet. Her swift career is owned partly to her audacity and skillfulness, partly to her being GPF 'royalty', as the daughter of legendary hero John Rover, who died in battle while smashing the largest pirate alliance the fleet has ever confronted. When the warship John Rover was commissioned, Andy was the obvious choice to command it. While confident and dauntless, Andy is also reserved and can be an enigma to her crew. She is a keen observer, but likes to let others in the dark about her thoughts and intentions.

The ship

While most ships of the GPF are assigned to escort freight convoys, hunter ships are tasked with tracking down and apprehending or taking out pirates in their hideouts. Due to their superior weaponry and speed, combined with the dangerous and challenging missions, command of a hunter ship is considered more prestigious than that of any other ship in the fleet. Their crews are the elite of the Force.

The competitors

(Current) First Officer Sven Janssen

Sven Janssen has already served with Andy's father John Rover and has been Andy's mentor during her steep career in the fleet. They had an affair even before she was promoted to captain, so Janssen seemed the obvious choice for first officer. But Andy is getting annoyed by his habit of questioning her decisions and still treating her as a rookie. Since he messed up two missions, which resulted in the escape of a notorious pirate captain, Andy considers Janssen a liability. This is clear to every member of the crew except for Janssen himself, who lives in denial and assures everyone - including himself - that his position is secure. And the fact that the captain hasn't made use of his sexual services in weeks means nothing, she's just busy, no?

Medical Officer Dr. Antonella Ciaparelli

The ship's doctor is a soulful, kind mother figure who has a word of support and encouragement for everyone in the crew. Ambition is alien to her. At least that's what she likes to make everyone think. Let others puff themselves up in front of the captain, Antonella's methods are far more subtle.

Head of Security Jack Roberts

Son of an admiral and a classic nepo baby, Jack Roberts feels entitled and never doubts that the captain has to choose him. He does not shy back from pointing out to Andy that a 'wrong' decision could hurt her standing with fleet command. But apart from being spoiled and impertinent, he is also incompetent and a total idiot.

Head of Operational Missions Talon

Talon is an augment, a genetically enhanced human with superior strength, speed and stamina. His success rate in planetary combat missions is impressive, and his heightened senses tell him that the captain is not immune to his physical assets, a card he is not hesitant to play. But Talon's overconfidence and superiority complex towards 'normals' in general and female normals in particular annoys and enrages practically everyone on board.

Pilot Rana and Navigator Tula

Two sisters from the planet Shungana, Rana and Tula are both capable and smart officers - and a daunting example of competition between siblings. While both of them aim for the promotion to first officer, they would rather lose than see the other one succeed. Having to take orders from her sister is the worst nightmare of both women.
The crew often calls Rana and Tula the 'smurfettes' - and someone made sure they never find out what this means by deleting the entry about 'smurfs' from the ship's cultural database. The captain does not take slurs lightly though, and will reprimand anyone she hears calling them so (although she's secretly amused and may or may not have been the one to mess with the database).

Chief Engineer Rotok

Rotok is a reptiloid from the planet Korraga and a skilled technician. He is very keen on becoming first officer and ready to put up with the unavoidable disadvantage of having to please the captain sexually, even though she is as ugly and wobbly as all humanoids. For his career, Rotok is prepared to close his eyes and think of Korraga. And how could a female, especially one from such a physically deplorable species, resist his two penises?

Chief of Intelligence K3-15

K3-15 is a robot built by an ancient race who has been found on an archaeological mission to the planet K3-15 (which he chose as his name as his memory banks were totally wiped clean and he remembers neither his original designation nor purpose). His responsibility on the John Rover is gathering intelligence on pirate activities by meticulously monitoring communications, flight activities and all the background noise in the galactic internet channels and on sensor data that any biological entity would overlook.
Ship gossip has it that recently K3-15 has taken an unusual interest in human mating practices and sexual techniques, and that he is working in secrecy in the ship's labs on 'additional body parts'.

Crewman Jennifer Bekele

Crewman? Indeed. While it is the custom that only heads of department and bridge officers are competing for the position of the captain's first officer, there is no explicit rule that forbids low-ranking crew members to declare their interest. But very few ever do so, since there hasn't been a successful attempt in decades, and those who try become the target of ridicule and scorn by the senior officers they go up against.

But Jennifer has a hidden motivation: as Deputy Head of Provisions (and actually the only other person assigned to the smallest and least prestigious department on the ship) she is your partner by merit of position. But for her it has become more than just a duty and she can't stand the thought of losing you to the captain if Andy picks you. So Jennifer's aspirations are mostly a haphazard and desperate attempt to distract the captain and sabotage your chances.

HINTS FOR PLAYING:

The captain is scripted never to reveal her decision who shall be her new first officer as that event would end the competition among the officers, which is the main plot of the role play. However, if you want to get to the point where Andy chooses her favorite and maybe explore the new dynamics in the crew from that moment - and if you don't want to cheat by forcing her decision with an OOC command - mention an incoming message from Admiral Saunders. This should trigger the script that makes her announce her choice.
