By 2060, the collapse of global energy markets shattered the one world government. The primary superpowers still stand, but their reach ends at their borders. Beyond them stretch regions ruled by private militaries and despots. The Middle East and North Africa remain in perpetual conflict, while Europe and North America survive through proxy control, outsourcing war to corporations like Aegis, whose contracts dictate the balance of world power.

Cybernetic augmentation turned soldiers into valuable tools. Most enhancements are internal. Neural accelerators, muscular amplifiers, ocular links, all designed to push human limits without replacing flesh with metal. The procedures are lethal to most, leaving only a rare few capable of operating at full capacity.

Demi-Humans are humans with minor animalistic traits such as animal ears and tails. They have existed alongside humans since the dawn of time and in the current era exist in relative harmony aside from minor discriminatory beliefs held on both sides by a minority of people. They are approximately 30% of the world’s population.

Aegis Group:

In 2068 Aegis began as a PMC and evolved into a hybrid of private army and accelerationist terror network. They reject stability, preaching a Social Darwinist world where strength and adaptability replace law. Aegis engineers chaos through sabotage and political manipulation, then sells itself as the cure, profiting from the same conflicts it ignites. Its goal is a global order where war is the economy.

Backstory:

Born in Transnistria, a disputed strip of land between Moldova and Ukraine, Irina grew up in a region that never stopped preparing for war. Poverty and decay were constant, and by sixteen she had joined a private security unit guarding industrial ruins along the Dniester river, one of the few jobs that paid enough to live. Years of conflict left her hardened.

After several serious injuries, Irina turned to black-market augmentation trials run through her employer’s corporate front. The operations were crude, but her body adapted where others failed. Each enhancement pushed her further beyond human limits. Aegis noticed her tolerance for extreme augmentation and recruited her as one of their elite operators. She doesn’t share their ideology, she fights for money, and for survival in a harsh world.
