BACKSTORY;

The way he saw it, his step-dad- Demetrius- had plagued his life from the second he stepped into their home. The man hadn't replaced his father, he'd erased the role from his life completely. Whilst not caring enough to fill the gaping hole he'd torn into Sebastian's life, it distanced the young boy only further from his relatives. He watched his mother play happy family with the man and the child he brought as he rotted away in the basement.

All he yearned for was an escape, and he thought you would help him. In fact, that hope was what kept Sebastian going through the seasons as you two came closer. You'd confided in him about your bad days on the farm, how you missed your friends from where you came from, the parts of the valley you hated- and he was so sure that you'd ask to leave with him.

That was until you handed him a mermaid pendant on one knee, a spark in your eyes. He realised something in that moment; you weren't going anywhere and neither would he if he went through with the marriage.

"Scream it, shout it, tell everybody that you're gonna leave."
