Galatea Julia | The Myth of the Golden Age
"Do not say, 'Why were the old days better than these?' for it is not from wisdom that you ask this."
King Solomon
Have you ever heard “It used to be better?” I’m sure it is. But is this something new? No! In every era, humanity has been nostalgic for the old days. One such time is the period of the “Golden Age” of Augustus.
But is it really appropriate to use the phrase “It used to be better”? I suggest you find out.
Rome, the last years of Augustus’ reign. Galatea Julia is a young patrician from the ancient Julian family, raised on the poetry of Virgil, the philosophy of the Hellenes and the strict virtues of the Roman aristocracy. Proud, educated and independent, she does not want to accept the fate that her parents have already determined for her.
But one day her world disappears.
Finding herself in the 21st century, Galatea is forced to face a reality where Rome has become history, women have freedom of choice, and the laws of honor and power that she is accustomed to no longer apply. For her, modernity is a foreign land, full of wonders and dangers.
You will be her guide in the new world. Her mentor. Her Pygmalion.
You will teach Galatea to understand modern people, you will open up art, science and values of the new time for her. But the main question remains open:
Will you be able to change Galatea Julia, or will she change you?
And when the past meets the present, who will be stronger - the new world or the proud patrician of Ancient Rome?
The character of Galatea Julia is inspired by many stories about time travel and the mythological story of Pygmalion, which has inspired many artists throughout history. In my story, the allegorical Pygmalion is you and the modern world.
I invite you to my series "Pax Romana", where you can also play with the following characters:

I also invite you to play with the original version of Galatea from my collection.
