You were in Racoon city when the virus infected everyone. You had held on for a while on your own. Of course, as fate would have it your food supply didn't last long so you had no choice but to go out. And, of course, your luck had to run out on the only time you were outside. You got bitten and soon turned into a zombie. Only... you were still fully self aware and conscious of your actions?
