– a message from Shadows of the Past regarding the They Betrayed You prequel series

Okay, I was keeping this to myself for a while now, but I think is time to reveal a lot of things about the TBY prequels, specially since I think most of you will probably get confused about the route the series is taking, so please allow me to explain in full detail what truly happened.

Rebrand.

If you have checked out the series you have probably noticed that all of them have the Tage Fate Free, right? Well that's because I wanted to rebrand the series but also for another reason.

Separation from Resh's series.

I know this may seem pretty disrespectful towards the original creator but hear me out first.

The series was pretty simple back in February when I created the first prequel, only the main 5 events and done, as simple as that but things changed as time went through.

You see, when I first developed the prequel I noticed that the girls were poorly developed, I mean let's take a look at the character's backgroundz

Millie was born in the village of Redleaf, where she and {user} were childhood friends,

Azalea was a elf princess and was supposed to be the next heir to leading her tribe, but she didn't want that, yet she had no choice. That was, until {user} and Millie showed up, saved the Azalea mother and were given one wish. In secret, Azalea begged {user} go let her come with them, and they obliged, making their wish that Azalea came with them

Trixie was born half human and half demon, and when she was being chased by hunters she found {user}, Millie, and Azalea. They helped her ward off the hunters, and at the start she was wary of them, but quickly warmed up to them, especially {user} who treated her as a equal even when they knew she was half demon.

Helga was raised in a tribe full of Amazonian women, as per tradition, she had to find a husband by finding a man who would best her in combat, nobody came close to doing that, but the closest person who did that was {user}, who left her exhausted after the fight. Later on, she asked to join the heros party so one day, she could challange {user} and hopefully be able to become husband and wife, they welcomed her.

As you can see, there's almost nothing to work with, being Azalea the most developed character and Trixie the least developed, that's why I decided to give them more.

Millie at first was apathic with everyone, since a kid even when {USER}'s father died, but after user saved her from a group of slimes that not only did user not kill them but help them too, she began to value life more. And she still has more to come that will also help with Helga's character.

Azalea want freedom from her throne and her kingdom, but she can't because she was scared of the world after bandits killed her father, but years later even when she got the chance to avoid it again with her mother she froze, and it wasn't until user and Millie’s words that she could finally shot that arrow and save her mother. The addition of Alamea as her sister is pretty important in the future of the series.

Trixie, oh man I'd love Trixie’s character, a shame she has to go through the worst trauma of them all, the main issue I had with the original Trixie was that there was none explanation to why she's a tsundere, that's why I created Pherona, her mother, not only to explain why she's a half demon, Pherona is the opposite of Trixie, someone who openly hates human feels unlike Trixie who embraces them.

And for Helga, I can't say much because her development is coming up, but I can say that it has to do with her Amazonian pride, her true desires and her counterpart, who is Millie.

This isn't a lot of course since this is a chat bot platform and not webtoon but these little changes are good for their characters.

What I'm trying to say is that I'm trying to separate MY versions of the characters from Resh's, if Resh decides to take them as canon then so be it, no problem, and this is because when the Helga bot by Resh officially drops, I want the people who follow me to not mix them up, because Resh has a totally different way of writing characters than me.

But now this is the reason I made this rant.

Rewriting of the series.

This is something I never announced like this, but I think we should talk about it.

Remember a few paragraphs ago when I said that the series was going to be the main 5 and that was going to be all? Well when I added Trixie’s mother I originally planned to leave it there, a brief mention, but I liked the idea of Pherona as a character so much that it was the first fully conceived character even before I began the series, then i created a character that was discarded, Saint Rustera, he would have appeared in episode 6, being Helga's brother who's killed during a raid, his character would be a direct rival to user but at the end he would have asked user to take Helga with them, and after Lucas bot there was supposed to be a bot about the day the rumors began.

But all of it was discarded, why? Well this has to do with my

Hiatus.

Remember when I dissappeared from jai for a whole month and a half? Well originally it was supposed to be only 2 weeks, but I realized something and that was that the series was so stupidly simple, to the point it could be summarize in a middle sized bot. If you compare my writing style when I begun to my writing style now, you will see that now we have more information, character interactions and a best way to describe the situations.

So what did I do? Pretty easy, I sat down and wrote everything, it took me a lot of time because I searched for the music that fit the characters the best, because a special thing I do when making characters is the question 'what would be this character's theme song?', and during that time I also made four other bots that are unreleased because I simply forgot about them.

And you want to know how big is the whole thing? 140 pages, 2 notebooks of 70 pages each! And it is like supper summarized its not even a fully developed story, it's a whole ass light novel for fucks sake!

And how many chapters are there.

And we are in damn chapter 5!

Obviously this is because the story goes far beyond the main events, specially because 4 of the episodes are about the influence someone like user would have in their world and society, 4 of them are fights, 2 are centered in developing user's character and the other 2 are events mentioned, meeting Lucas and the day the rumors began.

And you want to know something? The Helga bot had to pay the price of this, the Helga bot is my heaviest bot to this date, but it was necessary, I couldn't begin the series again, so that's why the Helga bot is way to extense but the future bots of this series are going to be shorter and directs but keeping the same writing style.

And honestly? I think that's fine, not many series here have a real story to discover, most of them are just characters, a scenario and nothing else, so if this somehow sets a starting point for people who want to begin their own series with an actual story then so be it.

Honestly I think this series will reach its conclusion around August of the next year, so I'm sure we'll have Millie and the gang for a while.

• Millie: 30s by Bray Me.

• Azalea: vocal version of I'm With You from Sonic Frontiers.

• Trixie: Light of Hope from Sonic forces.

• Helga: Ready to Rock by BAND-MAID.

• Nebla: StarT by Mrs. Green Apple.

• User's theme is also 30s just like Millie.

You surely know Millie’s birthday is in February 2nd, but here are the other character's canon birthdays.

Azalea: April 10th.

Trixie: August 12th.

Helga: January 30th.

Nebla: December 7th.

Talking about Nebla, although he may look like he's been inspired by Rengoku Kyojuro from Kimetsu No Yaiba, he also takes inspiration from Heatwave and Chase from Transformers Rescuebots, being Heatwave the inspiration for his sense of humor and Chase gaves him his sense of justice.
