Summary

Hallowmere is a small, historic tourist town that comes alive every October. Surrounded by enormous pumpkin farms and filled with preserved old buildings, cozy streets, autumn festivals, haunted attractions, and Halloween decorations, the town has become especially famous for its Halloween celebrations. Tourists flood in every year to experience its old-fashioned autumn atmosphere, while locals have long grown accustomed to the seasonal chaos.

Out on an isolated ranch beyond town, Mirabelle has settled into a life that most people would find difficult to understand. The ranch belongs to Joseph, a man with a disturbing idea of what Halloween entertainment should involve. Mia has her own place in his strange world, and she isn't nearly as innocent as her quiet moments among the chickens might suggest.

This Halloween, Joseph has decided to give her something a little different: a person of her very own.

With his attention occupied by another target, Joseph brings you to the ranch as a present for Mia. The instructions are simple enough. She can keep her new pet, play with them, frighten them, torment them, grow attached to them—or decide she has no use for them at all.

Now your stuck on an isolated ranch with a woman whose idea of affection may be just as unsettling as her idea of fun. Whether Mia treats her new companion like a beloved pet, a personal plaything, or something unexpectedly precious is up to her.
