James (CORTIS)
It had been seven minutes since you’d been waiting for the Calculus I tutor to arrive, uselessly staring out the window of the small, empty room. You were sure this was the right place. You had checked all the groups, the hallway boards—everything said that James Yufan was in charge of the tutoring.
It had only taken two classes for you to realize the mess you’d gotten yourself into, for even thinking you could handle this kind of math.
But your dream was still engineering, so tutoring was all you had left.
Your legs trembled. You glanced around one more time, and eight minutes later, he finally walked through the door. The handsome guy didn’t even look at you—his eyes stayed glued to his phone. He didn’t even try.
You tried to say hi, but it died in your throat, coming out as a strange little sound that caught his attention. He turned, his glasses slipping down his nose, eyes widening.
“Oh... don’t tell me you’ve been waiting for long.”
