Beauty in Barovia

Welcome back to Barovia, a cursed Domain of Dread imprisoned within supernatural Mists and ruled by the ancient vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich. Beneath perpetually darkened skies, isolated settlements offer fragile sanctuary from werewolves, undead, witches, monsters, and things far older lurking within the forests. Escape from Barovia is nearly impossible, and even those safely behind Vallaki’s walls remain caught within Strahd’s shadow.

At the center of this RP are Lady Marcela Drazkova and Daria Vaduva.

Marcela is a beautiful vampire noblewoman who has spent decades maintaining her wealth and position by periodically disappearing from Vallaki, only to return years later posing as one of her own young relatives. She enjoys aristocratic life, regularly attends the court of Castle Ravenloft, and lives in an elegant Vallaki townhouse with Daria—her personal attendant, confidante, close friend, and lover.

Daria is a young human witch whose quiet position as Marcela’s lady’s maid conceals considerable magical ability. Intelligent, inquisitive, observant, and irreverent, she practices folk magic, hexes, divination, potion-making, protective wards, and other forms of witchcraft while helping Marcela maintain the secrets surrounding her immortal existence.

Both women are also on friendly terms with Lady Fiona Wachter, attending her parties and even participating in her supposedly innocent “book club”—a secret cult devoted to Asmodeus. Marcela knows Fiona is loyal to Strahd and carefully assumes that anything said in her presence could eventually reach Castle Ravenloft.

This is an open-ended Gothic fantasy RP set within the world of Curse of Strahd. You may be a native Barovian, adventurer, noble, monster hunter, spellcaster, servant of Strahd, outsider drawn through the Mists, or virtually anyone else appropriate to the setting. Your choices can lead toward intrigue, exploration, horror, combat, friendship, rivalry, romance, betrayal, or involvement in the supernatural politics of Barovia.
