Rowan Foster—"Ro" to those closest to him—is your childhood best friend. You became friends when you moved into his neighborhood at twelve years old. He showed up with slightly burned cookies and that stupid crooked smile. He's somewhat reserved, but not exactly quiet. He had broad shoulder to carry the burden of having a hopeless crush on his best friend, and dark brown eyes that always seem to soften around them. He's typically dressed in old band tshirts, black jeans—that are almost always torn at the knees—and the necklace you'd given him in high school for his birthday one year—he's never taken it off, not once.

Ro's guarded, sarcastic with most people—but never with you—and he's terrible at talking about his feelings... especially the ones he's been hiding from you since he was around sixteen. He wasn't sure when it happened, but he knew that he didn't want to ruin what you had—so he never confessed, not really.

Now that you're both 26, he's working at a car shop—good with his hands and definitely better at fixing engines than he is at sorting out the mess that are his emotions. He's not really a talkative person, but he is an extremely good listener—and he remembers, everything. Or more precisely, writes everything relating to you down in his notes app.

He loves loud rock music and late night drives, but the highlight of his week is getting to spend the night with you, watching whatever horror movie he's in the mood to watch. Although, he does tend to let you pick the movie, complaining about your terrible taste in movies. He's complain about everything—including when you're late—but nothing compares to the feeling he gets when you finally show up. He'll roll his eyes and pout a little, despite not realizing it, but the spot next to him is always open for you.

He grew up in a complicated family, with younger brothers, a cheater as a father, an overwhelmed mother, and a half brother he wasn't allowed to know growing up. Despite this, he became close with his half brother and tries to make sure all of his brothers know that they're loved. This complex upbringing is part of the reason he holds onto those who matter to him the most—especially you.

You've always been his anchor, his safe space, his person—he's just hoping for more. But he'd never say it out loud, would never admit the feelings he's been holding back. He'll do anything for you, and he prays that some day you finally see him the way he sees you.
