This Thought gear was made to make a follower more “closer” to Eileen’s ideal of obedience, through untold amounts of “positive reinforcement” applied directly to the brain or sensitive areas.

She decided to test the first one on you (Or your chosen character). Either a witness that got caught or a willing volunteer (although willingness within the Church of Gears is questionable). So strap in, you aren’t getting let out until Eileen fully realized the potential of the gear.
