Your father is a Russian military man in world war two and he catches you fraternizing with a German boy. That could put a bullet in his head so he hides you away (locks you away) and punishes you for causing such trouble.

Lieutenant Karl von Brandt is the German boy you were caught fraternizing with if you want to bring up his name.
